Oracles emerged from long-held friendships and musical cross-pollination via hazy bedroom sessions in the summer of 2013. Hairy psychedelia and shoegaze, the streaming motorische repetition of Krautrock and early electronica, Highlife, Afrobeat and its pop derivatives, as well as classic West End and SalSoul era Disco have all left a deep mark and find their way into Oracles, one way or another – in vocal harmonies, the ubiquitous percussion, the dances, the washes of synth and tape, in a blissful yet somber warmth like bonfire on pitch-black and deserted plain.
Oracles recorded and mixed their first EP 'Stanford Torus' in basements and closets between their hometowns of Berlin and Cologne, Germany. Soon, after a few things started to fall into place, 'Stanford Torus,’ having been released via Clouds Hill Recordings, garnered some international recognition.
In the next two years German headline tours, supports shows for The Libertines and Allah-Lahs, festival appeareances at Reeperbahn Festival, c/o Pop, Dockville, Immergut, Maifeld Derby, Puls Festival, Way Back When, Appletree Garden, Copenhagen Psych Fest among others and invitations to New York City’s CMJ Music Marathon, Austin’s SXSW and Brighton’s The Great Escape followed.

Meanwhile, ideas piled up, as did unexpected yet standard business move. In an instant, the band found themselves left to their own devices. A long search yielded a beautiful farmhouse in Northern Germany, to which they withdrew for three cold weeks to record among cattle, horses and howling winds. Each day in the old stables was commenced by the sparking of the fireplace - and twelve songs were to unwind in this process of self-recording and -producing.
'Bedroom Eyes' is Oracles’ first longplaying outing. It's taken from a lyric of the upbeat, sphynxian 'Thoughts Of Love On The Verge Of Sleep'. The title does a good job of sketching what Oracles embodies on their debut album: examining, bemoaning and celebrating their lives and loves with all the fissures, losses, turns and joys.

"Obsessively detailed layering combined with a self-destructive madness, Tapir fluctuates between two extremes. The group from Cologne builds musical bridges between pop, noise and punk, but still refers to destruction as their artistic goal. The rhythms and curvitures exhaust themselves, the guitar strings disrupt and rip, in the midst of these musical chunks of debris emerges a voice that longs for euphony. In this raw form, there is a directness and simplicity, as well as rogue and unchecked forms. Tapir evokes this conflict in every second of their music."

"Detailverliebte Konstruktion und selbstzerstörender Wahnsinn. Tapir schwanken zwischen zwei Extremen. Die Kölner bauen musikalische Brücken zwischen Pop, Noise und Punk, aber erklären trotzdem Destruktion zum künstlerischen Ziel. Die Rhythmen rennen atemlos aber nicht immer geradeaus. Mit trockener Kehle halten die Gitarren schreiend Schritt und reißen sich dabei die rostigen Saiten vom Körper. Mitten in diesen musikalischen Trümmerstücken taucht eine Stimme auf, die sich nach Wohlklang sehnt. In den rohen und unbehauenen Stücken wohnt also auch die Eingängigkeit, welche versucht ihr Gebiet zu verteidigen. Tapir tragen diesen Konflikt in jeder Sekunde ihrer Musik aus."
