Austrian Apparel haben sich über die letzten Jahre den Ruf erarbeitet, bei ihren Live-Sets tonnenweise Synths & Drum-Machines anzuschleppen. Lieber einen Bandscheibenvorfall riskieren, als sich mit einem schnöden Laptop zufrieden geben. Anstatt sich den endlos beliebigen Weiten digitaler Soundproduktion auszuliefern, hat sich das Wiener Elektronik-Duo somit dafür entschieden, sich das alte Brian-Eno-Motto Kreativität durch Beschränkung zu Herzen zu nehmen. Soundtechnisch sind Austrian Apparel aber gerade deswegen State-of-the-Art und haben sich - auch wenn im Techno geerdet - dem modernen Songwriting verschrieben. So klingt 2020.

2020 legte der Wiener Live Act mit "AAplus" (AA+ Records) sein Debut-Album vor. Die ersten Veröffentlichungen des Duos reichen bis ins Jahr 2012 zurück und es gab in der Folge Auftritte am Frequency Festival, Popfest, Springfestival Graz, Lighthouse Festival, Urban Artforms uvm. Doch wie im Clubmusik-Sektor üblich entsteht in diesem Track-orientiertem Genre ein Album erst nach einer längeren Zeit des Wirkens. Austrian Apparel haben ihre ganz eigene Soundmischung reifen lassen. Um das optimale Kondensat aus "Licht" und "Dunkel" zu finden wurde "AAplus" zur einen Hälfte direkt in der (leeren) Grellen Forelle aufgenommen und zur anderen Hälfte in endlosen Studio-Sessions. So funktioniert "AAplus" sowohl am Dancefloor als auch außerhalb des Clubs.

Lots of great mixes coming up on the Play Pal Series!, to kick off some old friends, who already recorded a mix for our show at Rinoceronte.fm Radio and the Play Pal Series 3 years ago and we are delighted to have them back. They don't need much presentation, the french duo Sam Berdah & Philippe Binda, Club Bizarre. 

They've released music in some of our favourite labels such as Relish, Blindetonation, Days of Being Wild, Rotten City, Melómana just to name a few. 

We have the pleasure of having them back on our series with this brilliant mix and we'll also see new and killer music from them on Play Pal later on this year.

Sinchi & Friends 64 features one of our favourite artists of the moment @SaschaFunkeOfficial . The prolific producer is a regular on revered labels such as Multi Culti, Endless Flight, Turbo, Kompakt and his ' Acatenango' release on You and my Hippie Friends has been one of our highlights of this year. Here he rustles up a classic club mix featuring some old and new techno rave hits with a little slice of breakbeats.

1)Who are you?

My name is Sascha Funke and I am a DJ and musician from Berlin.

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Touring with the Fantastic Twins in Mexico, watching the football world cup with my 3 year old son, finishing my new release coming out on Multi Culti, together with Niklas Wandt.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

As mentioned, I will release a new single on Multi Culti together with Niklas Wandt. He has a band called Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge on the label Themes For Great Cities, and  also recently did a great album together with Wolf Müller. Beside the release on Multi Culti, there are a couple of remixes which are coming out soon.
