Difficile de faire son choix hier, tant les propositions sur les 4 scènes du festival ligérien attiraient la curiosité. Bien sûr ravi, de retrouver Air et son incroyable scénographie pour fêter les 20 ans de Moon Safari, album culte, un été où la France célèbre sa French Touch, de France Inter aux Inrocks, en passant, bien sûr, par notre hors-série Tsugi...


Le Réunionnais Aurus, la pop du duo Ojos, sa majesté Philippe Katerine qu'on n'hésite plus à appeler le patron de la chanson française. Mais aussi les découvertes de la sélection Globe Trotter, Labdi & Unganisha, Taj Ma House, les Coréens Fat Hamster & Kang New ou le Brésilien, Eric Terena dont le peuple indigène vit dans le Pantanal en Amazonie. Eric Terana présentait ce midi au Cinéville de Saint-Nazaire, pour la première fois en France, Yanuni, film saisissant dont il a assuré la bande-son. Yanuni c'est le portrait de Juma Xipaya, défenseuse des droits des peuples autochtones au Brésil. L'Amazonie est pillée en toute illégalité pour les richesses de son sous-sol, une activité soutenue à l'époque par l'ancien président Bolsonaro : l'eau des cours d'eau est empoisonnée au mercure les peuples indigènes subissent des violences et des attaques de la part de ces mineurs criminels en plus de la destruction de leur cadre de vie. Juma est une des figures à avoir porté ce combat dans ce pays et même au-delà, première femme cheffe de village, elle a échappé à 6 tentatives d'assassinat. Mais elle a aussi participé jusqu'à la naissance de son 2ème enfant, au ministère des peuples indigènes créé par Lula une fois retourné au pouvoir. Un film qui, comme le rappelait Frédéric Petit, le président des Escales, incarne bien les valeurs défendues par le festival : la défense des droits humains, la promotion de la culture dans ce qu'elle a de plus noble, la création, la curiosité.


Encore une soirée donc à rêver à un monde meilleur sur l'Île du Petit Maroc, avec tout à l'heure le formidable live de Samifati et Transe Gnawa Express, projet né entre Nantes et Essaouira, et puis une reine de la nuit et du groove qui va refermer la grande scène, l'Irlandaise, Roísín Murphy et le trio post new-wave néerlandais Baby Berserk.

Second Hand Noise is the electronic exploration of Melvin Medina, a Puerto Rican artist whose musical DNA carries equal parts rock attitude and electronic soul. As synth player for nu metal act Vialterna and electro rock band Celestina Robot, Medina has made his mark on the island's music scene when the song Extasis became the main theme for cult film "12 Horas” while Vialterna opened for Anthrax , Sugar Ray and Latin thrash legends Puya .

Raised on Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, a-ha , Pet Shop Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Medina is a rock & roller who loves electronic music and vice versa. Later influences like The Chemical Brothers, Roni Size , Soulwax , LCD Soundsystem, Four Tet , shaped his vision of unpredictable, emotional electronic music.
Second Hand Noise creates music that transports listeners to familiar yet surprising places, serving as an instrument of joy, reflection, dance, and unity. Working from his Puerto Rican studio with analog synths and Arturia's V Collection, Medina explores 432Hz tuning alongside textural soundscapes. Starting with the contemplative "Into Coherence" (mixed by Orlando Mendez (Circo and mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri ) the project will evolve toward indie dance territory. With an EP in development and collaborations planned, Second Hand Noise represents both personal exploration and community connection. This is electronic music with purpose - designed to move bodies, touch hearts, and occasionally blow minds.
