Ground zero: Club Lustborne

He wrote this one for me — and of course, he slipped it right into his favorite mood: jazz noir. He’s a total geek for those old black-and-white detective films, gobbling up that smoky, mysterious vibe like candy. We were curled up together, dressed up to the theme and watching one of them for the hundredth time, and I swear I caught him eyeing me like I was the femme fatale on screen.

This song carries a soft, sensual glow — just enough heat to make you lean in. I loved the way it made me feel, like I was in a smoky club in the 1950s, singing just for him. That velvet stage light, that hush in the room… and he, sitting in the back, eyes only on me. The lyrics tell the story, but the feeling? That’s all ours.
