The first single to be taken from Slam’s truly astounding upcoming album ‘Reverse Proceed’ sees the hypnotic Pattern A3 alongside some of Techno’s biggest and brightest new stars adding their own versions also.

Slam have chosen one of the major standout tracks from Reverse Proceed to set the tone prior to the album’s full release in late October. With the album built around the concept of varying sequences, it’s fitting that the first single be given such an apt name. Taken directly form the Cirklon sequencer pattern that helped design the track Pattern A3 features heavily modulating synths that seems to have a fully organic life of their own set against the typical backdrop of 909 drums. 

Following on from Slam’s original, Soma have enlisted the help of 3 of the label’s favourite contemporary Techno artists. Argentina’s Jonas Kopp is first up on remix duties and deliver an absolute pile-driver of a remix with his signature thudding drums and machine-gun like percussion firing rapidly against subtle and stripped synth elements.
 
Swedish based Bleak is a very welcome addition to this package as he offers his own ‘Modular Interpretation’. Heavy sub bass and intelligent drum work outs combine with yet more subtle hints of the original’s synth elements to give a more deep and introspective version. 

Rounding off the EP is latest Soma artist Charles Fenckler. The young French artist is making waves in Techno at the moment and has certainly delivered on this project, giving his version a much more minimalistic, stripped and ends up with a solid dance floor burner.

Your favorite compilation series is back with more of the pummeling, moody techno you’ve come to expect from Second State – plus a few surprises.

On 'Trip Tales', Watergate resident The Reason Y and relative newcomer Tømas Sinn team up on a driving, hypnotic techno cut built for big rooms and post-peaktime blear. Dutch veteran Secret Cinema picks up the pace on 'Zürich', a deliciously unsettling blend of distorted stabs, tribal arpeggios and an atmosphere that is at once tense and mysterious. There’s a lightness and delicacy to Risa Taniguchi’s 'She': The Japanese producer layers hi-hats, rattles, a strong, lean, bassline and airy synths for a techno track compelling in its subtlety; a welcome contrast to harder beats. Swiss techno don Quenum goes for understated suspense on 'Fact Action', a slow-building mood piece that unfurls with the drama of a cinematic score and is perfect for between-banger breathers.

Prepare to take off into another dimension with Triathlon’s 'One Track Brain', a pulsing, futuristic trip shot with sci-fi lasers and springy bass: It’s a one-track ride to oblivion. The tinkling synths that welcome 'Tropical Heart' signal a different side of Second State: Three emerging Israeli talents, Jos & Eli and Magit Cacoon team up on this kinetic, warm track with a proggy core. The results are spiritual, ethereal and dynamic; a breath of fresh air. A walloping kick to introduce Dutchman Joran van Pol’s 'Derelict' pulls the comp back into hard, dark territory. Menacing echoes and fidgety synths create a prickling unease that, much like the kick, never lets up. 'Sleep Deprived Vibration' paints an evocative scene: flashing strobes, t-shirts wet with sweat, faces in various states of blissful disarray. You know exactly what Glaswegian producer Frazi.er is talking about here: the best kind of sleep deprivation, fueled by the electrical charge of tracks like this one.

Argentinian Eme Kulhnek lets 'Efforts' simmer like a perfectly cooked stew, gradually shifting out of subtle atmospherics and shrouded voices into faster and more curious terrain. Keening, circular bleeps and chanting conjure something primitive and magnetic. The Polish producers DUSS, meanwhile, head to the race track with 'Kevin the Second', a motoring, high octane thrill ride loaded with revving synths, snapping percussion and masterful pauses and drops. Greek duo Bleur & MB1 bring the listener on a cosmic trip anchored by thumping beats with 'Humans' which, contrary to its title, operates in a “parallel universe” involving time machines, robotic female voiceovers and an industrial yet melodic whirr and hum. The Italian producer Blackrachas made 'Five O’Clock' with the witching hour in mind. Burbling drones, tickling synths and monstrous mumblings combine in an ominous melange bound to hit the spot as the moon casts its last shadows.

Consistency is reassuring, but variety holds interest. On SUM 8, Second State offers the best of both worlds in what is arguably their most colorful and wide-ranging compilation to date.

Out of Place Records continues their series of high-delivery releases, this time on digital with the label's 8th release. It is an all-around banger with five tracks signed by young talent from Poland - Szmer. The tracks are ranging from underwater blasts and Detroit machinery to fast attack bouncers and grinders. Szmer cleverly combines raw techno elements with industrial noise and expanding chords capturing the essence of any club-oriented floor kickers. Dancers are going to dig this one!

Young Michał Aleksiewicz is a promising Poland producer and a DJ better known these days as Szmer. Walking the Techno path since 2011, he's been playing all around Poland and also well-known European temples like Tresor and Suicide Circus, although under The Effaith moniker. In almost ten years he managed to release numerous tracks under three different aliases which are mostly influenced by Planetary Assault Systems, Ben Sims, Jeroen Search, Zadig or Sterac aka Steve Rachmad.

"Geist" adorably resembles some of the older tracks by Robert Hood or Steve Rachmad. Detroit infused sequence is squeezing and expanding through a rolling beats and 909 percussions. Heavy cymbals and short breaks are tight and leave little room for pit stops in this relentless pounder.

At the border between tradition and pulsating desire for change, it was impossible to describe the Georgian Sonic soundscapes without finding its roots in the old winemaking tradition. There is no meal or reference without wine, just like there would not be this rising culture of artists without their thoughts for change, filled with the desire to bring a game-changing wind of change to the front of the scene, being musical or political.

devi finally reveals himself completely, the face of the wind of change which continues to blow over the red vines of Georgia.

Antidote returns to Northern Parallels with a follow up to his Theorem EP release. 'Endless Nights' provides three dance floor ready tracks demonstrating groovy, hypnotic, stripped-down beats.

The EP starts with 'Anxious', low-end heavy, broken beat backed with hypnotic vocals and a subtle synth line.

'Insomnia' is a great example why sometimes "less is more". Along with the last track 'Paralysis'. Both tracks are stripped down, yet groovy, mind-numbing and ideal for warming up or late night dance floor.
