Change is inevitable - sometimes it comes like a welcome gasp of fresh breeze, and other times it crushes our lives like a hurricane, destroying everything familiar, and setting a chaotic scene to create new worlds. It’s up to us to harness the power of change, or fall entrapped in the limbo of the past.

Alpha Particle Assembly and shadoW Work collaborated on this 2-tracker with an attempt to break familiar moulds and create a specific blend of sounds and ideas.

Flangery sequences layered onto 909-esque drums and accentuated by punchy kicks, led by hypnotic and detuned synths in this pair of solid dance-floor tools.

Second State is the record label from Berlin’s stalwart duo Pan-Pot that continuously drop dance floor weaponry from artists like Amelie Lens, Gary Beck, Shlomi Aber, Grindvik and Flug.

The newest EP titled Confusion comes from longstanding Glaswegian techno force Harvey McKay who lists contributions on some of the biggest labels in the world such as Slam’s Soma who are fellow Scots, Sven Väth’s mighty Cocoon, Marco Faraone’s UNCAGE, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and Coyu’s Suara amongst many others.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Confusion” with a thundering and jackin’ rhythm. The stabbing keys and rolling tones add a relentless flair and driving energy, while crushed hi-hats create intense breakdowns. This is nothing short of ferocious and made to get the club wound up into a frenzy.

The Glaswegian producer will contribute another EP to Second State this Autumn, cementing his place as a regular contributor on the Berlin label. ‘Confusion’ EP contains three warped, high-energy cuts from McKay, a style that has grown synonymous with his name in the techno world.

First track ‘Fidget’ opens heavy on the bass with a chopped up vocal loop that builds and gives way to clacking percussion. He switches up pitch and effects throughout to build intensity, letting all elements crash over each other at intervals. There’s a chugging vibe to the cut, with a pulsating bassline that creates serious depth. The sample orbits repeatedly, with the interruption of a sharper vocal slicing across and layering upon itself.

Next up is ‘Confusion’, skipping forward with vigor and volatile keys. Bustling arrangements charge the energy of the track with relentless hi-hats creating a tense and anxious mood. The booming kick drum echoes ferociously throughout whilst twisted melodies writhe and build, at moments drenched in distortion. Listeners are left unknowing of what’s to come as the relentless kick is halted by momentary breaks and turns.

Rounding off is club primed cut ‘Destroy DNA’. Similarly to the previous track, the direction is switched up at any moment. Airy pads create a celestial feeling that maintains a lightness despite the heavy kick. They phase in and out throughout to let key arrangements shine through, adding a harder but grooving effect to the pad-heavy journey.

Onyr is the electronic music project of London-based drummer and producer Dave Storey. After making his debut in 2025 with releases on Sweden’s AEDI Records and BEAM Records, he now unveils his first full EP, Hydrus, released on the French label 909 Connection.

Drawing on his deep rhythmic sensibility and expansive musical background, his productions blend an eclectic mix of organic textures, psychedelia, and deep techno into a distinctly polyrhythmic and hypnotic sound. The result is an immersive sonic world that bridges the acoustic and electronic, built on carefully crafted grooves, euphoric atmospheres, and a drive to explore different states of consciousness.

To complete the EP, STUPR made a tribal and dubby interpretation of Rainmaker, and R.2614 remixed Swirl, adding his unique occult touch to the release.

Hydrus introduces Onyr as an artist with a clear and compelling sonic identity.
