Uladzimir Patapenka is a name you might not know, but you may know that he previously worked under the LIPSKI alias. Now leaning into disco and working as Patapenka, he is a Minsk-based artist who steps out with his second solo EP and the opener 'Bisous' features a host of talented musicians adding their skills. It's a lush and rich sound with great instrumental grooves and catchy hooks. All three of the other cuts mix up different elements of disco, funk and soul to make for irresistibly feelgood and emotive listening. Another vital slab of wax from the Funkyjaws Music crew.

The Sound of Detroit by one of it's unsung heroes, Amp Fiddlers new album Motor City Booty coming straight off the D Funk assembly line, a full on dance floor affair from Motown to P-Funk, Techno and Neo Soul. This 11 track album produced by Amp Fiddler & Yam Who? includes the massive 'Soul Fly' sounding like a Mark Ronson production had he been hanging out with George Clinton's Parlet followed by the bonafide P-Funk anthem 'Steppin' both featuring the stunning vocals by the Dames Brown girls. Amp Fiddler is credited for taking both a young J Dilla and also Q-Tip under his wing teaching them his Akai MPC techniques, setting the path for some of Hip Hops finest recordings which have defined the shape of things to come. His musical collaborations & current duties include: Moodymann's musical maestro, keyboard wizard for Theo Parrish's live band, a longstanding Funkadelic member, co-writer for Sly & Robbie, Prince, Maxwell, Jamiroquai & Seal to name a few.

After some years of searching for records, I bumped a few times with songs dedicated to a certain lady called Carolina.

Who is she?
Where is she? 

This is a mix of songs from Latin America & Brazil. All of them are called "Carolina" for all the Carolinas we have met and who have inspired us. Teachers, sisters, lovers, neighbours, friends of friends, and even institutions!

1977, Paris France. Two brothers freshly arrived from Casamance, the Senegalese ‘Florida’, are living  the tough immigrant experience.  

Their plan: becoming pop stars. A challenge so ambitious  it sounds like science fiction at the time: Bob Marley, Fela Kuti and a handful of others artists have started making waves in the Western World , but the rise of the Pan-African sound is still at an early stage. The Touré brothers have formed a band, written some songs, and start frequently playing their music live, to great effect, at an underground theatre called the Dunois in the 13th Parisian district. 

A legendary 40-year career will follow:  16 albums released, millions of records sold, numerous world tours, awards and collabs with the likes of Manu Dibango, Talking Heads, Carlos Santana, Bill Laswell, Alpha Blondy, Bernie Worrel … 

Released in 1979, self-financed by loans from friends and allies, Mandinka Dong - The Mandinke Dance - is the genesis of Touré Kunda, the cornerstone of the band’s unique sound, at the crossroads of Disco, Funk, Pop, Reggae, Portuguese, Guinean, Cuban, Zairean, Mandinke and Soninke music.

It is an honour for Secousse and Hot Mule Records to present a complete reissue of Mandinka Dong. Faithfully restored and remastered, it will be available from the 16th September in both digital and physical formats (gatefold vinyl illustrated with photos from the artists’ archives and liner notes by Frank Tenaille, the band’s official biographer).

What brought us here at this moment? Patience...we will feel...

Solar disk, gradually passing one after another part of the plateu, reflected in turn from all surfaces and sublimate energy what drives ancient mechanisms - shadows become longer...A sense of presence...
Bright flashes, permeating retina and project mysterious space, shining with vibrant colors...The inner vision distinguishes silhouettes gradually appearing and filling by lots of details...After a certain moments, everything returns to square one and it becomes clear that the people around are various representatives of the autochthonous tribes, living in the territories of Ecuador, who have gathered here and now, just like us, to hear this mixtale...

Felipe Granda will lead us by secret trail through various regions of the country - from the mountains, through the jungle to the coast and along the way we will hear and get to know various rhythmic structures that so brightly reveal the inexplicable flavor of Ecuador!
