Apparently, Lord Plasma of the Piano People has stolen everyone's pianos and has locked himself inside his palace. I put the bones of this tune together in a hotel room while road tripping between gigs in Arizona earlier this year, feeling super inspired by the west coast clubs I’d been playing at. The vocals were written and recorded while sick in bed, using my tour manager's iPhone earbud microphone and a doona cover as my vocal booth. At the time I had planned on replacing the demo with a cleaner take when I got home to Australia, but I was never able to recreate something as gritty and weird... so it stayed! It's been slaying it for me ever since, I hope it slays for you guys too ❤️🙌🏼

Manchester’s Mason Collective debut on Hector Couto’s Roush this October with their three track ‘Lisp Problem’ EP. Manchester trio Mason Collective have been turning heads over the past 12 months, gaining support from artists including The Martinez Brothers and Loco Dice with releases on the likes of Wow! Recordings, Sola and Solid Grooves, and hosting their own twelve-hour showcase on Rinse FM earlier this year. With a busy summer featuring appearances at the likes of Creamfields, Parklife and Hideout wrapped up, attentions are now turned to a debut on Roush, with two solo tracks and a fresh collaboration alongside fellow Manchester talent Renko. ‘Lisp Problem’ opens proceedings, fusing skipping hats, rolling drum loops and infectious vocal hooks, before ‘Body Move’ combines organic percussion patterns packed full of swing, warped and echoed vocal licks and twisting synth lines throughout. Last up, ‘Pre Almads’ sees the trio combine with Renko to reveal a stripped back, groove heavy cut perfect for both the peak time and the afters. Mason Collective ‘Lisp Problem’ is out on Roush on 8th October 2018.

New school house tastemakers Mason Collective make a big bang with their explosive Play It Say It label debut.  
 
Mason Collective are a red hot outfit blowing up the house scene right now. The trio of DJs and producers hail from Manchester and next to their robust club tracks on labels like Whippin               Records, Loco Dice’s Desolat and HotTrax, they also promote their own hugely popular - and always sold out - MVSON events. 
 
Their no-nonsense style is here for all to see from the off; 'That's Gas' has a superbly programmed and tightly woven groove that is infectious and propulsive. Sci-fi sounds, filtered vocals and skewed synths peel off the urgent groove and demand you dance. The warm and rubbery 'Ready to Work' echoes Chicago great Gemini with its paranoid bass and vocals as well as high speed sense of house funk.  
 
The wonky titular track shows another side to the collective: it's a freaky late night jam with daubs of melody, unhinged and wispy synths and a kinetic minimal house groove. This most expressive EP finishes with the slick tech and driving drums of 'Steezin', which has a flurry of 909s, taught bass and chopped up vocal sounds that will set any dance floor alight.  
 
This is a fresh, high class take on house music from these contemporary stars.
