Secta, the Dubai based event series and collective, launches the very first techno label of its kind in the MENA region with the various artists album "We Are Secta Vol. 1". 

This compilation includes 14 outstanding tracks that varies from high energy dancefloor fillers to dark cerebral hypnotic cuts and everything in between. This release also represents a paradigm shift in the music scene in the Middle East, standing as a statement to the world that the region has truly arrived onto the global stage. 

The combination of leading techno exponents alongside new developing ones as well as merging artists from different regions under a singular collective, exposes the equality between them and calls for a permanent shift in the way we view electronic music and the artists identities and backgrounds.

Secta Sessions is proud to present our second episode featuring a studio mix from our very own resident Kirill Zhan.

Kirill (or ‘KiKi’ as he’s lovingly known as here at Secta) has been involved in some of the best underground parties events and projects, and most recently his own creations ‘A Little Gathering” and ‘Moist Paper Party’.

Kirill came crashing into Secta, quite literarily, bursting through our back door one day and since then he has not only become our resident artist, but an integral part of our daily operations, founding team and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 

His set today captures the early hours vibes of Secta, setting the mood and building tension while keeping an energetic pace.

Secta Sessions 002 - Kirill Zhan

For our third episode we have Secta co-founder and resident Ju Lovett. This UK born DJ and producer has been a pioneering force in the underground electronic music scene in Dubai for almost a decade. Constantly pushing boundaries, his relentless energy and passion for music is entirely infectious.  

In this amazing journey set, recorded live at Secta on 27/08/22, Ju lays down a blistering set soaked in groove and high energy cutting edge techno.

Secta Sessions 003 - Ju Lovett Live 27/08/22

For our fifth episode we have Vault Sessions resident Lobster. This amazing high energy / groovy set was recorded live at Secta on the 29th of October. 

Dutch DJ/Producer Lobster is one of the finest examples of the emerging rolling and high energy techno scene. As a Vault Sessions resident (our favourite event in Amsterdam) he has been tearing up the dancefloor with his relentless grooves.

Secta Sessions 005 - Lobster Live 29/10/22

For our sixth episode we got back to our resident Dea. This high energy closing set was recorded live at Secta x Bassiani on the 17th of December.

In this dancefloor worthy set, Dea manipulates high energy techno with her quirky unique track selection, rolling overlaps, and bright fun remixes that creates a constant groove that is entirely addictive.

Secta Sessions 006 - SECTA X BASSIANI - Dea Live 17/12/22

For our eight episode of Secta Sessions we are happy to host a regional talent from Bahrain: Sudz. Initially started 6 years ago as a drum & bass Dj, he recently has been drawn into techno. 

Although he has dabbled in music production, Sudz remains a DJ at heart and is quickly building a reputation for his vigilant crate digging and layered  dancefloor focused sets. His sounds remain on the boundaries between chillingly hypnotic and speedy grooves all under a relentless 4/4 drum line.

Dea, an Italian DJ based in the UAE, is a passionate advocate of techno. With a lifelong immersion in the genre, her love for fast, hypnotic beats manifests in her music and constant exploration for different sounds. Her sets are a dynamic journey characterised by deep, hypnotic rolling sounds that traverse genres, featuring electro-infused beats and powerful bass-lines.

Whether on the dance floor or in the DJ booth, she finds solace and the truest expression of herself through music. With her constant dedication, Dea continues to inspire the underground music scene in Dubai with her distinctive sound and profound connection to the transformative power of techno. As one of the founding members of the influential collective Secta, Dea has played an instrumental role in fostering a sense of unity and exploration within Dubai's underground music community. Through her thoughtful curation and creative direction, she has contributed to the collective's growing reputation.
She also just recently started Secta Record label which will help and push artists from the Arabian region. With her magnetic presence and unwavering passion, Dea injects authenticity, innovation and fun into every performance.

For our eleventh episode of Secta Sessions we are happy to host long time friend and MiZa Radio curator Karam Toubba. He crafted a highly hypnotic oriented set that will take you on a cerebral techno journey.

A very active member of the music scene in Dubai since 2003, Karam Toubba developed a strong mix of musical influences far from mainstream trends & fashionable sounds. His growth of his fanbase is all thanks to his persistence in maintaining his position in boundary-less expansion with music & radical self expression on the dancefloor.

Karam's latest work with MiZa Radio has been essential to foster a sense of unity in the region's music scene, helping DJs to showcase their sound and ensuring visibility for them in the digital space. He also mentors beginning DJs & helps to support DJs who don’t own industry standard equipment to practice.

Kazakhstan born and raised in the UAE, Kirill Zhan loves to experiment with sound, mixing old
school tracks with modern digitalised sounds. Inspired by complex and intelligent music, Kirill
has proven to be a very versatile artist that can deliver everything from super fast-paced techno
to avant-garde bass.
As one of the founding members of the influential collective Secta, Kirill has played an
instrumental role in fostering a sense of unity and exploration within Dubai's underground music
community. Through his thoughtful curation, he has contributed to the collective's growing
reputation.
He’s also the co-founder of Moist Paper Party, an anti-party that takes place in unconventional
venues from Indian restaurants to forgotten clubs in the old part of Dubai.

For our 207th Select session, we are bringing in Dea, a UAE-based Italian DJ and co-founder of Dubai’s techno collective Secta - a driving force in the city’s underground dance music scene. Earlier in 2023, Dea launched Secta’s record label, aiming to spotlight MENA-based electronic artists from different backgrounds and showcase their talent regionally and globally. 

Featuring her signature deep hypnotic rolling melodies, electro-infused beats and kinky basslines, Dea’s dynamic hour-long set for Select is packed with high energy, promising to keep you grooving till the last minute featuring the likes of Chlär, Toobris, Franco Alesso and Modem.

For our thirteenth episode of Secta Sessions we are happy to host Egyptian artist Marwan. A young DJ and uprising producer, Marwan developed a deep passion for techno and its wide selection of sub-genres, from Detroit to grooves and industrial. 

Today Marwan focuses more on delivering fresh mixes jumping between hypnotic and dancefloor driven groovy techno that match seamlessly with our Secta sound.

For our fifteenth episode of Secta Sessions we are happy to host Saudi artist and long time Secta member Anthony Nordge. Ali aka Anthony indulges in dissonance, deep hypnotic textured techno and resonates with deep bleepy sounds. He is the founder of Friction, a new fresh underground party, adding an important step to the small Saudi scene.
