Following the closure of the original Kool FM/Kool London, this playlist promises to retain some of the history from one of the original pioneers of UK underground pirate radio.

pirate radio stations were illegal, which means that they were not licensed by the government. they started in the 1960s, but came to prevalence in the 1980s and 1990s mainly playing black music, such as reggae, soul, funk and rare grooves.but once   acid  house music came to our shores it became the sound of the pirates especially in the bigger cities around the UK.  in the 90s there were 100s of pirate radio stations in London alone the biggest names were KOOL, RUSH, ERUPTION, RUUD, RUUD AWAKENING, DEFECTION, PULSE, GREEN APPLE, RINSE, CENTREFORCE, to name a few and if it wasn't for the pirates we would not have had a rave scene like we know and love today, as these stations would be a gateway for many of the household names we know today DJs MCs and producers alike. so big up all the pirates over the years some of which have gone legit.
