Hell - This World [Sector 12 // SECT02]

“This World” - the debut album by Western Australian producer Hell, is about the perception of life journeys.

It is conveyed through themes of duality and cycles, using the metaphor of a pathway to describe a descending and ascending route. At first, what lies ahead appears straightforward, but when travelled seemingly unravels into darkness and chaos.

When there, trials and tribulations inspire the climb to liberation and revelation at the heights of “Ever Rest” - a time of reflection and appreciation as the narrative comes full circle. At the heart of this endeavour is the realisation that perception can be switched at any time to reveal reality as what appeared to be truth was in fact obscured by obstacles.

An undertaking over 5 years in the making, which stretches between Berlin, Bridgetown and Perth, the album is as much of a literal interpretation of a journey as it is conceptually.

Short Story

This place is sparse. It holds an uneasy feeling through its gravitational pull. The dense blackness with the backdrop of glittering dead lights make me queasy. I follow nothing but an instinct and the squelch of sand beneath my feet over the dunes to the horizon. The light of the stars bounce closer and closer, lighting the way to more darkness and a door that shudders like a mirage. A door?. What is this door? Why is there a door? I draw closer and and begin to see the sand reform back to the stars and the stars back to sand. I push, no fuck its a pull to open….. A land beyond.
