i thought it important to stay true to the emotions that birthed seed. so the first one is from me 

i found this process very difficult, got stuck in the headspace of wanting to make it a good ‘mix’ but it just not working while staying true to these feelings. and i realised that it’s not meant to be make sense, feeling these emotions simultaneously is jarring, it’s abrupt highs and lows, it’s stop and start, it’s silence. cold and warm. it’s the complete disruption of flow following slight cohesion- conflicting. it’s disrupted diversions into altering soundscapes

i had a go at this a few times, and this version was my last attempt. i cried the whole way through and it was on that very spicy full moon, it’s raw- but it’s honest

SEED001 ~ 'siren in my dreams' ~ on heartbreak and introspection

SEED002 comes from london based, interdisciplinary artist - maiye. hamed maiye’s work touches on themes of  memory, magic, visual archiving, and magical realism through a variety of materials, including painting, photography, sculpture, and performance

“give yourself grace & invite grace from your maker 

grief is a never ending spiral which takes place in many forms & growth is a non linear path. the two can run parallel and converge 

at the beginning of this year two words have stuck with me heavily; serendipity and grace. i made two paintings at the start of the year which speak to both words

grace is a word that finds me often. my daughter’s name directly translates to grace. in many ways she has taught me what this word means through her being 

to be gracious is to extend space for learning, to hold room for growth. to be gracious to yourself is to be understanding; to be open to the slow unfolding of who & why you are and the endless possibilities of how you can be

the journey of this mix follows the meandering of what it means to grapple with understanding grace. through percussion, chant, meditation and dance”

SEED002 ~ maiye ~ 'after grief comes grace'  ~ on grace

seed003 has been taken on by bristol mainstay, SSSLIP. boundary pushing, known for 'obscure soundscapes', and adverse to colouring in the lines of genre bases ~ was obviously gassed to see what was produced for this one 

what has followed i couldn't be happier with, a raw ~ honest and deeply personal insight into a momentous part of the artist's life. it's a place that i (and i'm sure many others) have either found ourselves, or strive to get to. thank you for this honesty and insight into the corners of your mind <3 

'a realm of chaos entangled in excitement, neutrality entwined in abrupt rhythmic fantasy. 

this mix represents, for me, navigating the dance music industry, dance floors and spaces as a sober participant. moments of uncertainty mixed with absolute clarity, profoundness and hopelessness, finding your groove and losing sense of self: anticipation and acceptance.

it’s a complete juxtaposition of itself, intended to sooth and provoke thought. no matter how slow or intense the track is, just like an emotion, you need to listen in its entirety - feeling it fully. 

take it as you like - a timeline through a day in the mind, a day per track, an emotion per shift in tone, each selection intended to evoke a response in thought pattern. 

emotionally and symbolically it’s the deepest I’ve dived in a mix, aimed at a glimpse into the chaotic and calm realm of anyone’s mind - an everyday struggle and guidance through anticipation and acceptance. 

throughout, I find a new approach to mixing, one that mirrors a new approach I take to my outlook on everything. It’s flutters of emotion, fleeting, extravagant, solemn, chaotic, intense, serene, uplifting, confusing, all at once and all separately.

i hope it brings you some meaning or understanding of the small things, everyday.'
