The japanese legend is one of the worlds most influential artists in techno. In the past 20 years he has released his music on labels like Mord, Tsunami, Warm Up, Modularz, his own imprint Wols and more. He is known for his own style, which is deep, trippy and forward-thinking. It`s an honor for us to kick-off our label with this podcast by our special guest Takaaki Itoh.

DifferentSound invites Takaaki Itoh / Podcast #052

Our next guest is a very talented @JustinePerry, a Berlin-based techno DJ, who's name is to be heard soon all across the world. Attracted by the Berlin club scene, her sets are influenced by dark and deep techno, bringing the public to a hypnotic experience. Setting up in Berlin, she starting her collaboration with new artistic projects like Art Bei Ton and helped those events to feature more female artists.

As part of the LGBT+ community, Justine embraces the need of getting a more safe and diverse scene, involving more women and queer artists, as well as fighting against any form of discrimination.

Established herself in Europe, she has already played in prestigious venues, such as Rex Club in Paris, Khidi in Tbilisi, Griessmühle, or Tresor in Berlin, as well as some festivals, like Forte Festival in Portugal and soon Instytut Festival in Poland.

The fact that @kimkenis started DJing is perhaps only a logical consequence. Since her childhood music has always been her escape. She loves all genres. But since she discovered the clubs in 1999, her love for electronic music has only intensified. Being in the scene for over 15 years and after years of research and collecting, she has an extensive collection of music in all styles. With her predisposition to always want to share everything, it's strange she didn't think about starting spinning much sooner. Kim likes to do long, mostly horizontal sets. Here she proposes an hour voyage between dancing and spacing out. With her broad taste she will go from organic and groovy to sterile and minimalistic, one thing is for sure, it will be deep!

Beirut-based System Revival Records released a phenomenal compilation named "Rust," featuring tracks by Inland, Cøre, Polygonia, and John Plaza, to name a few. It's hard to describe what happens at Atonal Festival... I played an unexpected 6 hours set at Ohm, in front of one of the best crowds i've ever played to. 

It was the perfect opportunity to take some risks and to build a set that travels through genres and tempos. I spent most of the time increasing the bpm and got to play every genre i'm into : techno, bass, jungle, dubstep, electro, dancehall, house, ebm, downtempo... I started at 125bpm, and rose the tempo till 160 bpm, which is the double of 80bpm. So i continued from 80bpm, to 100 and went back to 125bpm again(a 360° mix in other words!). The crowd noise was recorded too.

Big Up to Nathalie from the Atonal crew who played B2B with me for the last 40minutes, thanks to all the dancers who came, you were so connected to the music ! And of course, thanks to Paulo, Laurens, and the Atonal Festival crew for the trust <3. It was sooooooo goooood.
