An alle Nichtraucher und Gesundheitsexperten! Bitte, bitte, bitte, bitte, bitte ab jetzt nicht weiter lesen! Ihr würdet es nicht verstehen, denn die neue Westbalkonia Single „Zigarette für mich“ ist nur für Clubs ohne Rauchverbot. Eine treibende Nummer, die den Zuhörer schmunzeln lässt. Der Tänzer kann getrost die Augen schließen und abheben. Ein Brett wie es im Buche steht, mit einem Snareschlag der dir direkt in den Magen drückt. Die für Westbalkonia typische Gitarre ist diesmal sehr untergeordnet, steuert aber einen prägnanten Teil zum Song bei. Das Thema „Schlauchen und Rauchen“ spaltet nicht nur die Nation, sondern auch diese Combo - hat man doch einen militanten Nichtraucher an Bord und muss Raucherpausen auf Konzertreisen immer und immer wieder verteidigen. Zeitverlust und der drohende Tod sind zwar unschlagbare Argumente, aber wir verlieren alle irgendwann einmal und sterben müssen wir sowieso. In diesem Sinne: let´s smoke!

Australian producer Draso marks his return to Wide Angle Recordings with a powerful new single titled Strum. For the label's 53rd release, Draso delivers an original cut that is defined by its melody and lush, hypnotizing atmosphere. For a track that captures the essence of both progressive house and melodic techno, Wide Angle Recordings turned to Cid Inc for the single's remix - a producer whose mastery of the genres has landed him on Bedrock, Sudbeat, Microcastle, and Lost and Found.

The original mix of Strum strikes a perfect balance between its light percussion, airy synths, and heavy low end. The track seemingly floats along while the bass line twists and turns into unexpected but exciting territory. The consistency of the synths and airy guitar helps build momentum as Strum progresses towards its peak, and makes for a truly mesmerizing dance floor journey.

When it comes to lush progressive house, no one does it better than Cid Inc. His remix of Strum marks his debut on Wide Angle Recordings and transforms the original into a spell-binding, other-worldly trip. The smooth low end and bending synths create a gorgeous and mysterious vibe that will be highly effective on the dance floor.

Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With The Quest, Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life.

NHAR (My Favorite Robot, Correspondant) is a consummate storyteller, and he opens the book with the glistening space tech of 'Navigli'. This is quickly followed up by newcomer Dan Grassler, whose superb 'Going Back' with US vocalist KnowKontrol is powerfully brooding and promises great things for the Munich-based producer.

The momentum picks up further with the standout 'Over My Head', a dark and delicious cut from two returning Chapter 24 artists, Alex Zed and Billie Fountain.

The label welcomes Teho and Machino for their inaugural releases on the imprint. Frenchman Teho (Herzblut, Parquet) serves up a double helping of delight with the skilfully crafted 'Back To The Forest' and the tense tech house of 'Drunken Leads'. Meanwhile, Machino (Desert Hearts), one of a new wave of Tijuana-based producers, showcases his unique blend of potent techno and ambient influences on 'Perdidos'.

Finally, Melodule and Van Did bring the tales to a close with 'Téou 12', a dreamy, abstract piece that showcases wonky basslines, drifting pads and engaging sound design.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories.

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away…
