3D or not 3D, that is the question. The answer, in this particular case, is sort of. Yes, it is the 3D(ream) Team of Howells (D for Danny), Emerson (D for Darren) and Seaman (D for Dave). The three musketeers who since 2016 have harnessed their considerable talents to deliver expertly curated back to back DJ sets and finely crafted slabs of dancefloor goodness via the good ship Selador. This time around, however, its 3D squared. Whilst scrupulously observing the Rule of 6, three fellow travellers from around the globe have been invited to join our motley crew, bringing their remix expertise to the (legal, socially distanced) party. These are challenging times but music remains the best panacea. And while all three offerings here are deserving of your attention in their own right, what unites them is a mastery of soothing atmospherics, a sonic blanket to wrap around yourself. All will transport you to the dancefloors we yearn to be on right now, but each mix also doubles up as an electronic balm custom made for your headphones. First up, we return to 2018s first EP, and Daves brilliantly-titled Hired State of Unconsciousness. For remix duties, we visit France and invite the ever-popular Rodriguez Jr to pick up the baton. A naggingly insistent acidic riff is gradually enveloped by gorgeous melodies guaranteed to set you adrift on memory bliss. We then hop over the border and ask legendary German genre-straddler, Ian Pooley, to take the controls and re-work Darrens paean to pioneering New York imprint Sleeping Bag from this years trilogy-completing third EP in the series. We are rewarded with a characteristically mesmeric slice of hypnotic funktronica. For our third selection, Romanias electronic ambassador Mihai Popoviciu, a veteran of so many leading labels, takes on Dannys Shortwave, also from the third EP. Here we have a blissful builder of a mix, with an irresistible lead hook aided and abetted by numerous tectonic elements weaving in and out of the track. Time to get 3 dimensional once again. Following previous impressive releases on Crosstown Rebels and sister label Rebellion, Armenian talent DAVI presents another fine display of his artistry on the spellbinding Lie Machine. Hot UK pairing Gorgon City bring their distinctive energetic brand of house to the remix.

Lie Machine opens with a delicate rhythm of bongos, combined with an undercurrent of murmuring bass and deep piano chords. The tension is built, before the introduction of DAVI’s soulful vocals and glistening synth, telling a melodic and emotive story of heartbreak. Another release, another incredible addition to the Do Not Sit On The Furniture family. Behrouz welcomes Eli Nissan to the fold with two breath-taking sonic adventures. 

A longstanding member of Guy J's Lost & Found collective, Eli takes off where his debut album 'The Last Poem' left us last summer. Deep, stripped-back, contemplative house music steeped in emotion that hits you when you least expect it.

The slinky 'Ararat' sets the scene. Stirred, not shaken; there's a lithe roll in the drums and treacle-like subs as weaves of percussion dance between the weeping chords. 

It's followed by 'Netanya South'. A shimmering haze of glockenspiels and marimbas, once again the Tel Aviv artists creates a sense of motion and energy. Unhurried, measured and glistening with a subdued, introspective soul. Finally 'Narkotik' sends us packing on the most hypnotic tip of the EP. Steadily growing in weight and emotional energy as the track develops into yet another sublime moment that hits you when you least expect it.

One of the most exciting new artists on the storied Anjunadeep roster, Marsh (aka Tom Marshall) delivers the second single ‘Don’t’ Wait’ of his forthcoming able ‘Lailonie’, out November 20. 

Collaborating with long-time friend Phenoir, Marsh blends the sublime vocals of Mariel Beausejour with signature bass grooves and luscious pads.

“‘Don’t Wait’ is about living in the moment and not letting time escape your grip. It’s about taking chances and seizing life by the horns.”
Written over the past three years, the album is inspired by this and other impactful life experiences, along with some of the beautiful places Tom has visited whilst producing the album.

“Lailonie’, pronounced ‘Lay-lah-knee’, has been a safe place for me to express a multitude of feelings, moments and memories I’ve experienced over the last three years. The album is a series of snapshots taken at different points as I’ve processed moving to a new country, getting married, traveling to different places. I’ve also experienced the pain of loss. We unexpectedly and suddenly had to say goodbye to Maddy’s Mom Carme at the end of 2018. I’ve had to rapidly learn how to love and stand by Maddy as we process this pain. We live in a world with so much going on. I think it’s important to have a safe place where you can go to catch your breath, process life and grow. Lailonie has been that place for me. I hope it can be that place for you.” 

‘Lailonie’ features collaborations from a wide array of talented artists including organic house music producer Wassu, soulful, jazzy vocalist Leo Wood, UK producer Phenoir, Cincinnati-based vocalist Mariel Beausejour, Austin-based songstress Mimi Page, and progressive house producer Forerunners. 

Marsh’s music has been supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Kölsch and Rufus Du Sol, along with Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1. His new album follows the release of his acclaimed collaboration with Nox Vahn, ‘Come Together’, featuring a moving spoken word sample from revered philosopher Alan Watts. On the live side, Marsh has performed at esteemed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, including Printworks London and The Brooklyn Mirage. 

With ‘Lailonie’ Marsh continues to tell his story of healing and inner peace through his enchantingly deep and progressive sound, and looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Anjunadeep alumni such as Lane 8, Yotto and Ben Böhmer on his rise to the top of the dance music world.

One half of iconic British duo Basement Jaxx, Felix Buxton and vocalist Gia made their debut on Defected as Selace back in 2018.
