Nick Silvestri - The Daily Grind [3rd Avenue]

Continuing to showcase new talent, Soundteller Records welcomes Brunoh to the label for his debut EP. The Argentinean artist first appeared in February of this year with an EP courtesy of Clinique Recordings. The progressive minded two tracker remains his only release to date and proved to be a great introduction to fans of the genre. Now landing on Soundteller, Brunoh continues his journey with the two track ‘Empatia’ EP.

The title track finds the Argentine collaborating with vocalist Jessica Dorado for a spellbinding progressive cut. A full, chugging groove and bulbous beats sit at the foundation, while clattering percussion and retro arps unite above. Timely effects add detail and depth at opportune moments across the first act, before the main break introduces a spoken word vocal to further the tracks intrigue. This storyboard carries across an unassuming drop before a wave of spacey arps highlight the final movement. For the less vocally inclined there is also a dub provided as well.

The companion piece ‘Arpeggio’ comes in a touch smoother with a sleek yet bulbous groove underpinning warm overlays and fuzzy arps. Remarkably smooth and groovy, it’s fluid rhythms and and pleasing design work amazingly well together. Ethereal overlays make for a charming break, adding a touch of anticipation as a smooth rush ushers in a rolling finale. It caps off two stunning tracks from Brunoh who makes a great Soundteller debut and continues a promising start to his production career. Don’t miss it.

In fact, the very ethos of a Showcase compilation is perfectly encapsulated here – seven hot new exclusive club cuts straddling genres from Afro to Melodic, Progressive to Organic, all lovingly gift wrapped and presented for your delectation. 

Indeed, whatever your predilection for House Music, we’ve got you covered here. From label lynchpin Steve Parry’s much coveted ‘Fenner’ which further strengthens his growing reputation as a top table producer to Israeli stalwart Magitman showing off his melodic credentials with the majestic ‘Mars 2020’. An interplanetary blast off of a tune. 

Newcomers Personna & Bloch then inject an electrifying youthful vibrancy into proceedings with ‘Endpoint’, already a firm favourite of Dave Seaman’s who insists ‘On Point’ may have been a more befitting title, before label favourite Athea returns to the fold with a no-nonsense heads down throbber in the form of ‘Rebel’. This is club music at its most vital. 

Next up, Berlin’s Smash TV gets deep down and dirty for the low slung groover that is ‘Freaks’, irresistible phatness of the highest order which is followed by the mysterious Mr E donning his alter ego for some serious superhero dance floor action courtesy of the beguiling ‘Lost’ and last but by no means least, Darksidevinyl & Balata combine for an Afro House anthem in the making. ‘Boohe’ is a towering representation of the genre. Tribal-tastic! 

In short, a magnificent seven that would have Bronson, Brynner & McQueen running for the hills.

The always fantastic Saint Petersburg bound producer Ewan Rill makes a welcome return to our PHW Elements family with another 2 originals under his belt. Being one of the most productive artists out there in the genre, creating a huge amount of deep driven progressive music that blends from progressive house to melodic techno he once again strikes with full power.

As the lead track of this EP we have a really quirky and well produced number baptized as “Population”. It’s a well driven progressivE house production packed with really deep and moody textures that blends perfectly with the flying melodic hooks. There is a bit of techno elements in it as well to make it even more interesting and we do love everything about this beauty. 

On remix duty we welcome back Italian native Elven Of July to the label. We have always had great thoughts about Augusto as he is a producer, very selective with his sounds and blends his music with super cool textures and his creative mindset. This rebuild is no exception as he is on roll from start to finish. This lean more to the melodic house & techno genre with his crisp sounding percussion work and creative build up. If the deeper side with atmosphere is your thing, well, don’t miss out since he is back and he strikes with full power. 

We also have another debut on the label and one that we had on our radar for a long time and when we got the chance to bring on Australian female producer and DJ Ebony Willis, we just couldn’t resist. We are thrilled to see her team up with us and hopefully you are a few more that will get to know her music through this as well. With a big love for melodic techno music, she strikes with an army of sounds through this Ewan Rill remake. It has great pace, energy and that melodic progression throughout this stunning journey. We are so thrilled over this one and we hope for a lot more from her coming our way really soon.

We also see a second original from Ewan Rill to spice things up even more. Through “My Ways” he continues to showcase his full on journey in the genre and we do feel this is another biggie from him, don’t miss out.

Kaleidoscopic colours radiate across Frankfurt skyline; "Dusk 28" opens a world of possibilities for Jannis Brinkmann and Naldoe. Shimmering synth lines blink in stratified layers of sound that bleed into each other like the evening sky. A stream of consciousness pours out in cadenced vocal, that lilts gently into the night air.

'Dusk' takes on a new character over the distinctive features of Berlin. An innovative sonic architecture is revealed as sun makes way for moon via the sounds of Robin Schellenberg. Familiar melodic tropes emerge in the gloaming before radiating outward in new warm shades. Ice cool refrains cascade across a new landscape as Chook creates a dark soundscape that beckons the darkness while chopped vocals and new melodies drive relentlessly forward alongside a menacing analogue bassline. A vivid image of London is seared in the mind's eye; a glorious 'Dusk' courtesy of Nichols creates a thickly textured sonic palette. A deep and resonant bass drives syncopated rhythms that pound a rolling groove, the heartbeat of bustling city as day turns to night.

I see colours in the moonlight ride away into the sunset.
