Making their debut on Manual Music, Dutch duo Around Us present their album ‘Reaching Home’. 

Based in Amsterdam, Around Us first emerged in 2018, quickly establishing themselves as a rising act with releases via Balkan Connection’s BC2 and long-standing Dutch imprint LuPS Records. World class DJ and progressive music tastemaker Hernan Cattaneo was the first to chime in with support. Showcasing one of the duo’s early productions ‘Sleeping Blue’ as part of his hugely popular Resident podcast. A bond with the Manual Music collective was also formed early on, as the well-received ‘Voyager’ EP landed in 2019 courtesy of label affiliate Cinematique. Four years later and Around Us now sits on a well-kept resume, with key projects on Click Records, Clubsonica, Freegrant Music and Manual Music’s progressive minded MNL division, all serving as vehicles for the duo’s deep and groovy sounds. Continuing on an upwards trajectory, Around Us now presents their first ever album project entitled ‘Reaching Home’ care of Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music. 

Its adventurous spirit is something Around Us relishes in, as they continue to survey their creative process on the album’s third single ‘Absolute’. An apt barometer of where the duo’s headspace is at, as they let hopeful soundscapes and heartfelt fragments descend over warm, inviting beats and spirited melodies.

His signature sound, use of organic bells, dramatic bass grooves and lush melodies makes this a conceptual one. With well thought out production manoeuvres you surely can’t go wrong with any of them. Like a long-lost love child of ‘French Kiss’and ‘Sacred Cycles’, our titanic trio have created a hypnotic masterpiece that immediately takes up welcome residence in the deepest recesses of your bonce, before washing over you like the warmest of sonic seas.

Just Her x Smash TV: ‘All I See is Us’
Two artists who have been with us since back in the proverbial day, team up for bass-busting beast where whipcracking percussion underpins a plethora of roof-raising riffage. Endlessly energising electronica for the ages worthy of the alliteration.

Darkside Vinyl x Rancido: ‘Omega’
Nurse, my pills! This is getting crazy, as another Selador stalwart, the man like Darksidevinyl, teams up with label debutant Rancido for this high-octane slice of melodic afro jackery-pokery that stomps like a herd of thirsty wildebeest spotting a desert oasis. Humungous.

Stelios Vassiloudis x Just Her: ‘Weightless’
Guess who’s back, back again? Yep, after a quick half marathon between studio sessions, Just Her joins forces with another long-time label friend, the inimitable Stelios Vassiloudis, for a unique slice of rulebook-trashing, quirky organic techno with Claire’s wondrous vocal to the fore. Heavenly.

Soak ‘em up party people. Three is the magic number.
