Another returning artist for 1FFNG008 is Tyrant, who brought one of the labels favourite Summer anthems 'Piffment' in 2019, this time mixing that same flavour with a wobbly UK Funky twist.

Tyrant based in East London, started out DJ'ing at 14 before moving to Leicester for university at 18 he soon got himself on the local circuit which led to a monthly residency on Mode FM just before moving to Bristol in 2014 where things started to get a bit more serious. Playing regularly at the likes of Lakota and Blue Mountain supporting the likes of Spooky, Woz, Cartier, OM Unit and even 1Forty’s very own Killjoy. It was at this time when Tyrant also got his hands on his first MacBook, downloaded Logic and has been consistently producing since.

2017 was Tyrants first stand out year as an artist with his first official label release via Low Pitched Records whilst in the same year reaching the pinnacle for any Bristol based artist - playing Motion’s Main Room. 2019 saw Redbull & Creamfields pick up ‘Ghoster’ for the Creamfields Aftermovie and his follow up release on Low Pitched Records with ‘Coach Clarter’ being one of his most successful release to date amassing support across BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM, Reprezent and Kiss, a track that's still doing the rounds now.

EPs have since ensued on Marcus Nasty's imprint 'Nasty Bros' as have further Motion appearances for the Mode FM resident, opening for the likes of Sir Spyro and D Double E which have continued to make him a mainstay in todays UK Funky scene.

Following on from the irrepressible space-sci-fi-bass fuelled Sedona EP that dropped in the summer, DDD bossmen Truth are taking that theme to another dimension with Portals - an EP so futuristic, trippy and technically accomplished it makes Rick and Morty seem like Winnie the Pooh, with more bass pressure than Eeyore could possibly stand. 

Don’t be fooled by the mad scientist aesthetic, though, as beyond the tracks’ otherworldly compositions, eccentric idiosyncrasies and meticulously detailed sound design - these tunes will slap you senseless in the dance - delivering sub frequencies so dense, their gravitational pull was registered with NASA pre-release.

From lead single and opening track future-dubstep stomper Alien Bass, to the magnificently ethereal yet savage collaboration with Dub Princess, ‘Drift’ - this EP demonstrates a duo at the peak of their powers and in complete control of their craft - with a constant thread of musicality shining through the tracks’ ongoing complexities. 

This one is dropping the day before DDD’s showcase event at Mission Ballroom in Denver on 1st November - including scene legends Mala and Joker - as well as DDD favourites Stylust, Wraz, Hypho, ColtCuts, CØNTRA and Athena - and the headline set from Truth.

The Dyson sphere grew, ring by massive ring, a testament to our collective will. Generations were born, lived, and died, their purpose the completion of this colossal undertaking. Life within the nascent megastructure was… stable. Energy is abundant. Our population flourishes. Hubris had become our defining trait. We believe ourselves masters of our destiny. Our music reflects this complacency, its rhythms becoming almost predictable, overlaid with the hum of endless energy and the satisfied murmur of a thriving civilization. Sekt 87 returns to Mangoes with a banging mini 2 tracker Speed Garage EP. After the success of his track 'Summer Rumbler' on our last release which came out earlier in the Summer, we had to get him on his own EP!

Gas on the B side is a subtle but bumpy Speed Garage roller with the classic shuffling drums from Sekt 87 and a lovely low Bassline. Moody but always sets off any dancefloor.
