For our next release, we’re thrilled to welcome two new artists to the SNF family. Two of the most ubiquitous names in today’s UK jungle circuit, it was only a matter of time before the raucous jungle of Tim Reaper and Dwarde found a home in Shall Not Fade’s catalogue.

On End Of The Universe EP, the two join forces to flex their creative muscles, together worth more than the sum of their parts. Whilst the title track is easily imagined in a Sherelle set given its strong pulse and hardcore proclivities, the following two are equally suited to home listening as they are, raving. ‘Midnight Sun’ takes the focus away from the lower ends and puts it on melody and percussive texture, whilst ‘Stretchpants’ maintains the focus on building atmosphere with sounds reminiscent of Dat Oven’s ‘Icy Lake’. Finally, DJ Sofa joins the party with a killer collaboration with Tim Reaper & Dwarde. This one is pure DnB, strap in.

Let's meet our selektahs for Episode 386, Louise Plus One and Hughesee the Distant Planet Crew:
Louise Plus One & Hughesee have both been DJ’S since the 90’s.  

They play vinyl sets representing music from the years of 87-95 and beyond representing a wide range of styles including  Acid House, Techno, Breakbeat Hardcore, Jungle Techno and Jungle/DnB.
Over the years they have played at events such as Freekuency Festival (Portugal), Rupture, Mash Up The Dance (Brick Lane), Jungle Syndicate, Live Evil, Calling The Hardcore, West Yorkshire Jungle Collective, Originate, Spectral Breaks and Deeper Understanding/LWT parties in London. 

Louise and Simon host Distant Planet events together in London on a regular basis which consist of warehouse all night parties at The Venue M.O.T in South Bermondsey and also run daytime family friendly events at the Fox & Firkin in Deptford and the Royal Sovereign pub in Hackney. 

Distant Planet also captures video sets from their nights which are available to watch on their Youtube channel and also host live streams showcasing the best of the Distant Planet DJ’s. Recently during the lockdown they  have been representing Distant Planet by taking part in live streams from  Venue MOT and The Fold London as well as their own streams which have great lineups with many of their Distant Planet regular DJs.

Home of my own mixes - predominantly jungle/hardcore with the odd bit of D&B, plus eclectic sample-digging, breaks and hip-hop, techno & electronica. 

Pre-2001, all mixes vinyl; Post-2016, all mixes digital (DJay 2); Post-2018, Ableton Live. Why? Why not?
I've got an old skool DJ's mentality, early influences ranging from Sublove, Ratty, Randall & Hype to Coldcut, DJ Juice, MK & Primo.  In the early 00s I turned my back on D&B, retired my turntables in favour of family/work commitments, and got into funk, soul, reggae and so on... a lot of this driven by curiosity around the sample roots of hardcore and jungle.  Forward another decade and an early mid-life crisis saw me messing around with virtual decks on my phone, and later acquiring a vinyl ripper, with one vision in mind: making mixes.
Although I'm partial to the odd DJay or vinyl mix when I get the chance, the progression into Ableton Live was a simple means to an end.  My ideas stretch further than the limitations of my physical collection and real-time mixing, and by sequencing I can pick, choose, chip away and structure mixes at my leisure. Which I do... a lot :)

Wait, there's more ... an absolute stack of classic golden era/old skool hip-hop/turntablism, jungle and d&b, hardcore, techno and house mixes retrieved from my dusty tape & CD archives.  This includes (by my reckoning) the most exhaustive collections of classic Full Cycle and Sublove Galaxy Radio shows, live Ruffneck Ting jungle tapes, loads of studio & compilation mixes, all manner of rave tapes, and so on.
