SHELTER AMSTERDAM RECORDING

My debut set at the legendary Shelter Amsterdam (@shelter_amsterdam) from June 2022 is now online for everyone to enjoy.

I had the privilege to warm up this insane sound system for a line up of much respected artists that I look up to. @giammarcoorsini & @jacopolatini were headlining under their Data Memory Acces alias (@user-499965322) and furthermore @idris-bena & @nathan-pinder-994377954 were on the bill.

To me this was a clubnight exactly as it should be. The crowd came early, stayed late and was there to dance and enjoy the music. The vibe was on point and all artists, crew and dancers had loads of fun together.

I played to warm up, but as the floor was already filled after half an hour in my set, I had the opportunity to play with different energies and styles, catering to a hungry crowd whilst leaving enough space for the DJs after me.

To me these type of warmup sets are the most fun to do. And to do it for my debut at such a magnificent place as Shelter, with this line-up and an energetic crowd is something I will always keep dearly in my heart.

I hope the recording of this set will translate the energy of this night correctly to anyone who takes the time to listen and enjoy. I appreciate every play.

Marie Whittaker enjoys teaching about publishing and project management for writers. She is Associate Publisher at WordFire Press and Director at Superstars Writing Seminars.
She is the creator of The Adventures of Lola Hopscotch.
In 2021, she co-founded the epic fantasy world of Eldrose Legacy – the subject of this podcast.

Mark Stallings is an Amazon Best Selling author living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a writer of Chinese martial arts fiction called Woo-Sha (Wuxia), Fantasy, Thrillers, and Military Sci-Fi. Mark released the first book in the Silver Coin Saga, The Elements, Eldrose Legacy, and the 4Horsemen Universes.

Todd Fahnestock is a fantasy writer for all ages and winner of the New York Public Library’s Books for the Teen Age Award. His bestselling The Wishing World series began as bedtime stories for his children, and his other epic fantasy series include: Threadweavers, The Heartstone Trilogy, and The Whisper Prince Trilogy.

Quincy J. Allen is a National Bestselling cross-genre author with a wide assortment of publications under his belt. His media tie-in novel Colt the Outlander: Shadow of Ruin was a Scribe Award finalist in 2019, and his noir sci-fi novel Chemical Burn was a Colorado Gold Award finalist in 2010.

Writers & Illustrators of the Future Podcast 218. Multiple authors writing one world: Eldros Legacy

Leeds Bleep-techno royalty Ability II aka David Duncan has been on the Wrecks radar for a few years now, the unison dating back to Luca Lozano’s remix of his evergreen anthem ‘Pressure’ in 2017. Since the remix the communication has stayed open and talks of a collaboration started, linking generations old and new.

That collaboration, recorded over a couple of years and a couple of studios, results in WRECKS057 ‘My Definition of Bass’. Four tracks split into two sides, the WRECKS side is taken care of by Lozano and long time collaborator and friend DJ Steve. The two producers live jammed sketches, recorded the sessions and then incorporated original vocals by Ability II, churning out acid wiggles and jacking drum tracks.

Ability then took these versions and then dubbed them out in his crossover style for the I9M side, resulting in two steppers made for the strictly for the bassbins. Echoing vocal layers and new instrumentation takes them out of the usual ‘wrecks wrealm’ and into new, dubbier territories.
