Following  in  the  wake  of  "Leland"  (2012),  the  critically  acclaimed  full  length  debut  by  label  founder  Francis Harris,  Scissor  and  Thread  is  proud  to  announce  the  November  18th  vinyl  release  of  "You  Can  Always Leave,"  Harris'  first  material  under  his  own  name  since,  and  the  first  hint  of  his  anticipated  sophomore  LP , "Minutes  of  Sleep,"  due  February  2014.  The  new  single  portends  the  mood  of  the  ensuing  album,  a  further foray  into  Harris'  signature  blend  of  house,  modern  classical,  shoe-­gaze  and  noise  which  is  the  artists  most ambitious  and  accomplished  work  to  date.  As  the  sole  dance  floor  moment  on  the  LP,  "You  Can  Always Leave"  picks  up  where  Harris'  cult  hit  "Lostfound"  left  off,  with  vocals  once  again  from  Danish  vocalist  Gry Bagøien  and  the  heartbreakingly  august  trumpet  of  No  Regular  Play's  Greg  Paulus.  The  remarkable  Terre Thaemlitz  delivers  an  epic  12  minute  remix  on  the  flip  under  his  DJ  Sprinkles  guise  which  is  sure  to  make this  12inch  a  sought  after  piece  for  house  music's  analog  enthusiasts.

New week, new premiere - we follow up last week's Henry Keen premiere with this sample-heavy 4/4 cut from Darran P, with elements of vibraphone peppering the mix to great effect... his "Into The Light" EP will be out July 21st!  Shout out to Minor Notes Recordings!

UK based DJ & Producer Darran P returns to Minor Notes with his first full artist offering. Into The Light EP kicks things off with a jazz drenched deep house vibe. This release contains 4 original tracks from Darran + 2 remixes from Russian producers SIL and Tsktch. 

Jazzmatazz is a low slung affair which veers off into darker territory mid-way through the rhythmic excursion. Next up is a track entitled ‘It Was All So Simple’ a sample-heavy 4/4 cut with elements of vibraphone peppering the mix to great effect. About A boy switches the tempo up slightly with a heavy beat-laden exotic sound which has a familiar vibe throughout. Finally, the EP finishes with Skyline Blvd, a track that has a hypnotic groove and a wandering baseline. The track was inspired by the drive along the pacific coast highway to San Francisco.

We are super happy to have this long awaited release on our board and push very different music which we are very inspired by.

@LocalTalk is a Swedish powerhouse label run by 2 of the nicest guys around,  @Tooli  &  @MadMats . Since 2011 they have steadily built up a vast collection of releases, quality and quantity going hand in hand, something that is rare in todays throwaway age. It is testament to their standing amongst some of the best established and new producers out there that they receive the music they release in the form of demos. Local Talk have discovered some great artists in recent years such as the multi-talented, jazz trained synth maestro Crackazat, Spanish drum & piano wizards Kyodai and sample genius HNNY. Todays premiere comes from the 5 1/2 year compilation part two, a celebration of what the Local Talk sound is about.

SMBD is the vowelless alias of Simbad, a UK producer who has previously released music on G.A.M.M, City Fly, Sofrito & Faces. His contribution to this compilation is called Cesar.
If you like “wrong chords” and loose drums then you will not be disappointed by this slab of tripped out jazz-house. Imagine a jazz cafe owner and a footwork dancer had a baby, then imagine that baby grew up and became obsessed with synthesisers and you are just about halfway to realising what this track is about.
Layers of pads and quirky top melodies add a touch of intrigue to this short but oh so sweet nugget from Simbad. The shuffled hats, bouncy claps and Purdie-esque drum rolls give the track it’s dance floor charm with the bassline well and truly taking you for a walk on the funky side. This compilation is an excellent advert for the Local Talk ethos, differing styles but the quality is unwavering.

2017 has started well for Simbad and I hope this form continues. Vinyl is out next week, 27th of March!
