Dub wise meditations for your winter hibernation. Steppin’ straight outta Vancouver, BC, comes the Lighta! affiliate Michael Red, rolling out two root-wise dub journeys for SFS0018. “Ops Dub” immediately cascades into a cavern of reverb, before morphing and pulsating into a groove. Its brief snare licks and swirling sirens mine the groove further below the surface, maintaining a forward path towards the light. “Zenith” provides a long form exploration into the delay, as a rollicking one drop rhythm lays the backbone for an undulating bass line that’s intent on staying one step forward & backward never. The tune bubbles in and out of a forlorn melody, which provides temporary relief from the sound system pressure.
