Avenue Red welcomes another DJ from Bucharest, Romania... enter Anddie (real name Pietrareanu Andrei), a DJ and artist who likes to push the deeper and dubbier shades of house & techno. This 1-hour mix is a dark, groovy selection of dreamy 4/4 gems, mixed sweetly and flowing like treacle.

"The mix is a pure dub techno mix, specially selected for Avenue Red. I chose to release one here because a lot of artists that I appreciate released previously there and because there is some sort of open format which is amazing. From dub to minimal, triphop, deephouse... Avenue Red Podcast #194 - Anddie

For a good while, I did not think No Way Back would be a streaming event for the second year in a row, but as it became clear that was what was happening, I had to start thinking about this set. This was the opening set of the 36 hour stream, which gave me a lot of space to build things up incredibly slowly. There were a few things I knew I really wanted to include like the DJ Plead, Plastikman off "Consumed", the two Kocmoc tracks, and "Untitled #35" in tribute to Jasen Loveland. The rest was just connecting those dots to make it all work. I recorded this in one take by the stream outside my house in the Hudson Valley. I thought I would have shade for the whole 3 hours but found myself in direct sun halfway through as I started recording later than planned. The sun was sort of melting my brain and made the CDJ displays really hard to see but somehow I think it just added to the vibe. Deeply looking forward to finally reconnecting with everyone in 3D space at Tangent this Memorial Day weekend.

Octex (real name Jernej Marusic) has been experimenting with music equipment since the late 90s when he fell in love with the sound of old analog synthesizers. In all this years he found himself in doing 'Organic Crackle and Tone EXperiments' (Octex), fusing his diverse influences with the unique flavour of Ljubljana. This resulted in releases on numerous compilations, the first one being Elektrotehnika Slavenika.

In 2002 he released his debut album "Idei Lahesna" on Tehnika Records, which received high praises from both critics and the public, and tracks from it got licensed to numerous compilations and mix CDs. His self-made video for the track "Emergon" got played on such TV stations as VIVA and Onyx TV, which is quite surprising for this style of music. 2005 saw the release of "Variations" on rx:tx label on which "the misty, heavily processed dub of Variations, sunk in the thicket of unique soundings, crackles and noises is so thick, greasy and interlaced, that it can swallow an unprepared listener."

In the meantime, Octex has become one of the most active Slovenian live acts and has performed on such prominent festivals as Club Transmediale, FutureSonic, ISEA, La Batie, Nuit Blanche and Exit - either solo or as part of multimedia project Signal-Sever.

Bryan Kasenic is an American dj, promoter and the founder of well-known The Bunker New York label. The Bunker New York began as a party, grew up into a record label, and has become a collaborative community, fostered by founder and curator Bryan Kasenic since it’s launch in 2003. The label unites diverse sounds from across the electronic music spectrum, connecting the dots between house, techno, experimental sounds, and much more. 

Bryan Kasenic delivers 60 minutes of murky and dynamic mix with a lots of twists and turns. In this hour-long set, recorded especially for Bassiani, he traipses through energetic techno, electro, breakbeat and leftfield aesthetic. Without high tempos and tensions throughout the mix, Kasenic perfectly creates dynamicity and intensity, that makes his sonic adventure very special and unique.

"I have been tasked many times with opening No Way Back. It's quite fun to play with the energy in the room as it goes from empty and chill to full and heaving over the course of my set. This year was obviously very different with NWB being a stream where my set started at noon instead of 11pm. I had been quarantining upstate for months with my friend Otis Mass (Massive Original), and we decided to pair his visuals to my set to do something special with the format. Without any real pressure to get a dancefloor moving, I decided to start things off very slowly and build things up for Mike Servito's set. It is always an honor to be a part of No Way Back, and this year was no different. Born in Zagreb in the early 1970s, Petar Dundov's career in dance music stretches back the best part of 20 years, but it is only in the new millennium that he has been using his own name for his productions. Over the years Petar has graced many of the world’s most prestigious and best-loved techno institutions including mega-festivals such as I Love Techno, EXIT, Awakenings and Wire, as well as cutting-edge clubs like Berghain, matter, Womb, Air, Fuse and Space. He counts a longstanding relationship with Belgium’s legendary Music Man label amongst his achievements, an imprint that has also played host to releases by artists such as Jeff Mills (for whose label Tomorrow he created the Sculptures mini-LP), Green Velvet and Robert Hood.

20 years ago Bryan Kasenic started The Bunker New York as an event series on New York's then-gritty Lower East Side. In 2014 he created a record label to provide an outlet for the work of friends, party-goers and visiting artists. Over the years, The Bunker NY has grown into an established institution which is well known for its steady output of high quality releases and its reputation as one of North America’s finest event series.
