As well as running the well respected Future Primitive imprint(featuring artists such as Leon Anibaldi, Mike Ink, Murcof, DJ Guy, CN, Charles Noel and Bluetrain) Milo is the brains behind the Club Rooted podcast series dedicated to non-floor focussed club music that "rides the line between warm-ups, messy after-party sets and the golden era of dubstep, when the dance makes way for something else."

Mosaic Mix Series 062_Milo Bragg

After a 1-year hiatus, the Avenue Red 1210 podcast series has a fresh installment of 12 records, each one being 10+ years old. Stepping up to the platters we have Moutier, a veteran DJ duo from Leeds who have in recent years also turned their hands to being producers and label owners. In 2017 they launched their Enclave Records imprint, which alongside their own works has featured an illustrious roster of talent, including Harrison BDP, Javonntte, Kresy, BioRoot and Niklas Andersson among others.

No strangers to the origins of true deep house, these guys have dug through an enormity of special black gold releases over the last couple of decades. Also with them having played a lot of gigs around the UK (especially in the north of England) throughout this time, they are well qualified to compile and mix something timeless and special from their collective treasure trove of records. They show their fine skills as DJ's in the way they hold that elusive dancefloor groove as they flutter through the tracks. To dance or not to dance? It is simply not an option.

"Here's 12 of our favourite cuts from that truly golden period of 1995 until just after the millennium. We purposely avoided going for something super banging, but rather just some good old fashioned deepness and gentle undulation, building towards the unreal Journeyman (an under-the-radar alias of the legendary Jean F. Cochois, better known as The Timewriter) track at the end.

A lot of these producers get somewhat overlooked when looking back at this period and perhaps, apart from true Discogs saddos like us, don't get the love from the current generation of house heads that they deserve. The majestic Aliens Don't Boogie was an instant banger when it was released back in 1999 and has been a regular in the bags for some of the largest DJ's in the techno scene for years. Now some of the big names in the Dub techno scene make their homage to this classic and do so with style.
Firstly we have the don of the Russian techno scene Andrey Pushkarev transforming it into a ultra-deep hypnotic voyage. The Icelandic techno youngling Waage brings his hallmark dub influences and creates an after- hours delight from the source material. On the flipside, it starts with a remix from the brothers Mark & Matt Thibideau. The Canadian sensations are on their A-game with this one; creating a delicately structured atmospheric yet groovy take on the original. The release is completed with a deep and trippy remix from the Icelandic dub techno legend Octal Industries.
Thule Records is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of dub-influenced techno music, and has been a starting point for many of Iceland's most renowned electronic musicians.

For our first POOLcast spring edition of the year we have a collector set from our POOL founder Frank Bogdanowitz aka Dr.Nojoke for you. The foundation of this set consisting of Dub-Techno, Ambient, Jazz and Experimental creates a mixture of reflection and hope, which almost magically pulls the listener out of the moment.
 
A welcome break, as the moment is only a small fraction of our existence. Yet only the moment seems to make our existence truly tangible. Constantly we make plans and explore our memories, reflect on decisions and rehearse the future, assemble ourselves from the past and shape ourselves for the future. However, it is the moment that seems to determine everything and can distort everything we have experienced and planned beyond any recognition. This results in a dichotomy between the Acting Self and the Thinking Self that raises the question, what defines us more, what we think or what we do? Is our existence more than the sum of our actions?  Isn't there also a Timeless Self that emerges from past and future moments and thus creates the momentary or is the moment the actual 'being' ?
