В 70-х годах прошлого века на африканском континенте сыскал невероятную популярность афробит – жанр, сочитающий в себе африканскую традиционную музыку, джаз и фанк. Позже, на волне интереса к регги, сукусу и другой африканской музыке, в России стали появляться афробит-коллективы, важной частью которой стали представители африканской диаспоры. Костя Экономов – основатель московской афробит группы Zava Matotra, художник и преподаватель МГХПА им. Строганова. С начала двухтысячных годов он принимает участие в жизни московской афробит-сцены и так или иначе столкнулся почти со всеми её участниками. Мы поговорили с Костей о работе с африканскими музыкантами, о жизни афробита на просторах столицы в течении последних двух десятков лет и о взаимном влиянии музыки Африки и Европы друг на друга.
