As a final attempt to capture a sense of stillness in the sonically busy Carlton Gardens in Narrm, I reached out on a limb to Museums Victoria to ask
if I would allowed inside the Royal Exhibition Building. To the surprise of myself and basically everybody else I was granted free access all day.

With recording equipment, some rubbish bags, a bluetooth speaker, a nylon string guitar, and the 2 hours before my shift started I got to work. The stillness I found in the following 3 hours inside the REB struck me with its elusive and ephemeral nature. It appears only in moments
between exhibitions and by nature has no audience, as the presence of people causes its immediate disappearance.
Ephemeral Stillness attempts to communicate the push and pull, the blinking in and out of existence of this sonic
oasis, while echoing the surrounding environment which is raucous with life.

There is a sample of Horn by Nick Drake in the beginning but all following instrumentation is original. The piano style is inspired by the music of Duval Timothy, check him out! 'Ball' and 'First Rain' are a personal fave.

Cover art was made in blender as part of the submission to represent an alternative graphic notation of the composition. The different sonic elements have different texture shape and colour, and they are positioned to reflect the mix.
