This is the live recording of my dj-set at "Plötzlich am Meer" festival where I had the chance to play on the mainstage from 3:30-5:30 on sunday morning. It was definitely one of my favourite gigs this year and I really enjoyed every single moment playing in front of so many people.

Freunde des gepflegtem Deep House schnallt Euch an!!!
Die Eulen aus Chrom fliegen mit uns durch einen Mischwald der melodischen Subbässe und setzen uns am Ende mit zerzausten Haaren wieder ab :)
Wer hier rein hört wird schnell merken dass die beiden Zürcher DJ´s Jan und Sebastian sehr viel Liebe ins Deteils stecken und Ihre klasse Venylsammlung perfekt harmonisch in Szene zu setzen wissen.
Die beiden begleiten unseren Soundcloud-Stream nun schon seit einem Jahr und sind uns mit ihren ca. 30 Minütigen Sets jedesmal durch einmalige Intros und spitzen Übergänge im Herzen geblieben.
Anlass genug Euch hier eine satte Stunde Podcast Nr. 6 zu präsentieren.

Der Name "Eulen aus Chrom" entstand in Anlehnung an Shakespeare´s "Sommernachtstraum" , da die Eule genau jene Attribute verkörpert, die die Beiden ihrer Musik zuschreiben:
"Der leise Raubvogel, der in der Nacht jagt und am Tag ruht. Der Ruf der Eule zieht sich durch die Nacht wie sich eine kleine Melodie durch "unsere" dunklen Tracks zieht. " (Zitat Eulen aus Chrom) <3

Diese sympatischen Künstler verfolgen ein anti kommerzielles Prinzip um Ihre Leidenschaft zur Musik zu bewahren und legen tatsächlich nur auf den Partys auf, die Ihren Vorstellungen entsprechen. Sie wollen mit ihrer Musik nicht die Massen erreichen sondern die Gleichgesinnten.

Feliks Thielemann and Mathias Schwarz, performing as music duo Super Flu since 2005, released “Halle Saale” via their own record label Monaberry. These days, Monaberry’s 22nd release – five remixes of four “Halle Saale” tracks – is ready to be published on April 24th, 2014. Music duo Format:B, DJ Koze from Flensburg (who recently won the Echo 2014 critic’s choice award), Stephan Bodzin from Bremen, Martin Waslewski and Cologne-based duo Andhim contribute one remix each. Stephan Bodzin, head of Herzblut record label, is responsible for one “Jo Gurt” remix and another trndmusik premiere.

Blitz & Donner EP – Oliver Huntemann

Senso, the brand-new imprint from Hamburg’s Oliver Huntemann, delivers its debut release from the boss himself. And, what a way to introduce his latest endeavor - two tracks of exceptionally focused, highly charged and deeply sophisticated techno from the heart.

Huntemann has always shied away from the limelight, preferring to let his prolific body of work and prodigious skills behind the decks do the talking. With this release, he again manages to leave an indelible mark on the techno heritage of northern Europe. Donner is a epic 9-plus minute workout of muscular beats, off kilter percussion and tense, minimal melodies – a master class in the art of building tension and its eventual release. Similarly, Blitz weaves a narrative out of a terse, tightly wound groove and elements that gradually build and build, stoking the fire. Metallic, buzzing synths fire and recede, ultimately exposing the jagged machine funk core of another exceptional Huntemann transmission.

Light and darkness come together, you can feel the diversity in this track, which is made for two worlds. Melodic, cosmic and surprising, this is “Eclipse“ by Jäger. The strong and catchy bassline is combined with smart keys and some parts are just full of wide-open space. “Obscurity“ is straighter, with an angular groove and a slightly spooky vibe. More light again after the break, but there is still the feeling, that these “Eclipse“ will come back.

Vertere - Mind Against & Somne

Constantly turning around itself, the winding melody of Vertere turns outward and inward at the same time, bringing the listener on a journey outward while mirroring a simultaneous labyrinthine journey inward. Like the word itself, Vertere, with its roots in the Latin word Verto (which itself takes its roots in the earlier Sanskrit word, Vartayati) it signifies the very nature of change itself. It means both to turn and reflect inward and yet also move forward — a call to action for setting in motion new things. A paradox at first glance but also perhaps a surprisingly accurate description of the destructive and reconstructive nature of creation. An apt metaphor for this bright new collaboration between established Life and Death artists Mind Against and the new artist project of Federico Maccherone, aka Somne.

On remix duties, when you have an artist of the caliber of Tobias Freund, you don’t need to ask for anything more and with his outstanding remix of Vertere he very clearly shows why. This long time mainstay of the electronic music scene has managed to stay not just relevant but on the cutting edge longer than most with respected releases on some of the most seminal imprints to be putting out music in the world of underground dance music. With Vertere he takes what’s already top quality material and somehow manages to turn it inward and in his own unique way elevate it to another level entirely. With a relentless beat and a sonic force that is hard to describe with mere words the Tobias. remix of Vertere comes out of the gate like a runaway machine rapturously drunk on its own self awareness. It marches ever forward, full of fervor, and will surely be driving dance floors both large and small to the euphoric edge of the ecstatic state.

Direct yet sophisticated, brutal yet refined, physical yet cerebral: opposites collide to perfection on this latest transmission from one of Hamburg's finest exports and a bona fide techno legend - Oliver Huntemann. Here, he returns to his very own Senso imprint with two massive tracks aimed firmly at the floor.
The airy feel of 'Schwarzlicht' with its simple kick-less beat and intricate, textured woodblocks gives way to an imposing, thorax-rattling low end that's felt as much as heard. Precision-engineered for a big system, the pitch-bent bass twists around itself like a contortionist in chains, while above, brittle piercing stabs pulse and ping.
On the flipside, the slamming kick and buzzing repetitions of 'Filmriss' cast a dark, edgy vibe. A pitched-up pulse - as if a string is being slowly tightened to breaking point - makes way for a monstrous sub bass. Deeply accomplished, these tracks are ample testimony to Huntemann's two-decade stint at techno's cutting edge.

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.
