We often think of deserts as being barren places but here are some surprising facts about the plant life in the Arab Peninsula.

Desert wildflowers like Zahrah and Zamlouq symbolize resilience, blooming in some of the world’s harshest environments. More than 800 types of wildflowers have been recorded across the Arabian Peninsula. After rainfall, the deserts, rocky mountains and gravel plains burst into life with greenery. Despite their relatively small sizes, wildflowers in Saudi Arabia are remarkably resilient. Bedouin have long used wild plants to treat infections and for health-boosting properties.

This track is based around the idea of an oncoming desert storm that results in the blooming of desert plants for a while. The main storm and blooming section is book-ended by quite stark chords, high strings and the sound of a desert wind. Further sound FX of thunder and rainfall are used in the middle section. 

I was looking at try to produce an almost magical middle growth section in stark contrast to the desert mood and also include a melancholic section as the flowers then succumb to the desert heat.

Our definition of Ethno-Prog is a  fusion of Prog Rock, Middle Eastern rhythms and instruments and some classical elements too. This one has a real classical focus featuring piano and orchestral instruments, but also Middle Eastern elements and Sound FX too.
