Tresor Records - CAIV - 29 Apr 2024

This month’s radio show celebrates the Carhartt WIP x Tresor collaboration, highlighting the historic Berlin and Detroit techno axis, also known as 030/313.

For the show, we welcome the Hamburg-based DJ @helena-hauff, who has created a mix documenting the legacy of Tresor, both as a club and record label, and its link to the roots of techno in Detroit.

Pulsing with wild melodies and rapid kicks, the mix was recorded using all vinyl, and features classics from the likes of Drexciya, Joey Beltram, and the late Silent Servant, as well as records from nascent producers such as UFO95. As ever, the mix is accompanied by an interview with Helena Hauff, who gives insights on her relation to the Tresor club and label as well as news on future projects. Demongay adds to the SQL catalog with immensely creative production methods. Twisted drum programming and immense soundscapes are contrasted with science-fiction elements to create a blistering-paced EP that is highly unforgiving. The title track Quesloktedana wants you to think it's a smooth house groover but locks you into a lonely journey through the cosmos, picking up strange radio frequencies along the way, only adding to the desperate experience. Simmiedo absolutely blisters and devastates at light speed and leaves no prisoners. This track has to be experienced, but only in a flight suit. Great for those moments right before de-pressurization and stepping out of the airlock.

This month on PoleGroup radio we are going to listen to a mix from Reeko, one of the members of the PoleGroup team.

Reeko has prepared us a mix flowing from techno to electro,  including tracks from Donato Dozzy, Surgeon, Cosmin TRG, CTRLS, Rhyw, Stefan Vincent, Tv.Out, Seleccion Natural, W1b0, Adapta and Meanad Veyl.

You can see Reeko playing as "Seleccion Natural" together with Exium and Oscar Mulero, on march 22 in Barcelona at Razzmatazz, on april 21 in Amsterdam for Awakenings and on april 27 in London at FOLD, another date to highlight is on march 30 in Fabrik Madrid with a b2b together with Jonas Kopp, with whom he has released an EP on Semantica end 2018.

Further on the releases side Reeko will release in march a re-edition of the track "the gravedigger and his bitch" track released for the first time in 2009, on his label Mental Disorder and he has a new release coming up on the  Avian imprint around may this year

He remains as vital as ever to bass music, releasing one of 2012's best albums 'Mala in Cuba' on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings, a dubstep-meets-live-cuban-rhythms soundclash.

Sequel Sound is a recording imprint uniting forward thinking music and visually stimulating design. The roots of the label, have been 25 years in the making-- generating in the ears, brains and sweat of co-founders Josh Mace and Jeff Everett. The specific sound was just a twinkle in the bass, inspired by 80's and early 90's electronica/techno, in the trenches of underground rave parties, live concerts and art shows until 2014. Stimulated by a profusion of creative energy they have collaborated with artists from around The United States to bring experimental art inspired releases challenging today's standard of shiny dance floor hits.
