Dauw — literally ‘condensation of atmospheric moisture in the morning or evening’ — is a subtle nuance for the presence of this Belgian bred music lover with a deeply rooted passion for jazz and soul music. Not sticking to one particular style his sound can be described as minimal house music in all its deepest forms and tempo ranges. Warm melodies often go together with groovy, heavy bass lines creating a particular deep vibe that has energy enough to get the party started, to going way passed sunrise and every moment in between. Add some strong emotional flavour to his defined sense for rhythm and he’ll spark you up on a journey that makes your heart,
mind and feet wander over and over again.

This mix was recorded live before Mosley Jr (Live) at Ghent’s (BE) newest underground club, Funke.

Over The Moon is delighted to present our sophomore release, the debut release from a bright new talent on the downtempo scene.  Encounters, from Bay Area based multi-instrumentalist and producer Tyler Hovestadt, is a project that seeks to find balance between organic musicality and electronic exploration.  On 'A Path Beyond', Encounters gently evokes a sense of calm through uplifting tones and thoughtful progression, enveloping the listener in a cocoon of heart centered magic.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tyler Hovestadt began his musical endeavor by experimenting and improvising with synthesizers as a part of garage jam sessions with his friends. After furthering his craft in sound design and arrangement, he went on to produce his own compositions and establish Encounters. Aiming to marry the digital and analog world, Encounters fuses organic, live-recorded percussion with meticulously constructed electronic soundscapes. 

ABOUT OVER THE MOON:

Over The Moon is the sister imprint of Behind The Sky Music, a record label created by established electronic producer Bluetech which is committed to releasing high quality limited edition vinyl presses of analog and modular synth music.  Formed during the pandemic lockdown, Over The Moon is a collaboration between label partners and longtime friends Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Maggie Houtz (DJ Maggie). The two work closely on co-producing the weekly Twitch audiovisual show Holotropic Happy Hour as well as the various artists Matters of the Heart compilation in summer of 2021 for Behind the Sky. Maggie’s love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - downtempo electronica is the guiding force in curating a catalog of gorgeous and emotional electronic music.   Over The Moon was born out of an inspiration to showcase more explicitly electronic, beat-driven music that sits just outside the parameters of the Berlin school ambient and analog synth-oriented releases of Behind The Sky.

Recorded in the summer of 2022, in one of the most lush and soulful (private)settings I've had the honor and pleasure of playing music at...a true Medicine Temple of Sacred Sensuality, innocent Eros, humans-like-dolphins, swimming into unity, mycelium magically rooting us into collective-intelligence, collective-evolution, collective-play...

It was exquisite to serve this space with the power of intentional M U S I C (I got to play some tracks that have been waiting to play for years):  a true Medicine Temple of Human Hearts 💎

The taste of New Earth Nectar that was dripping in this space was sweeter than sweet:  it's medicine is still working it's magik, the portal is still opening and deepening each time I listen to this mix and remember this portal...We are the Medicine 💎

Keep an Eye on You is a creation dedicated to the moon. Fascinated by this large celestial body that is the earth’s most constant companion, she sings to feel a deeper connection with the universe. A supermoon with a naked eye talks to her and guides her through a night of thoughts. The song “Keep An Eye On You” by Kris Berle & Skydrips is a dialogue between the Moon and The Earth as a way to find a deeper meaning in life.

A TWICE TOLD TALE

One fine autumn day in late September, Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) have crossed paths in a small town in the middle of the “heartland” US. From this moment on, their lives have become webs of inquiry and revelation as they have jointly devoted forces to mastering the art of musical storytelling. Drawing on a wide palette of ideas and influences, Santi & Tuğçe have created an enchanting world with their music in which the characters are driven by passion and a zest for life. A world where mythical creatures return home after an epic quest to an island surrounded by land, where a wise woman prepares potions to heal the poet, the dreamer, and the disillusioned; where planets collide and create new patterns in the cosmic swirl; where two starry-eyed lovers sail away on a sea turtle spaceship to places unknown; and where self-aware, compassionate robots resolve ancient paradoxes in their mission to rescue humanity.

On this fine autumn day in late September, thirteen years after their fortuitous encounter, Santi & Tuğçe, now based in the ‘center of electronic music’ Berlin, present their latest musical odyssey:  “A Twice Told Tale”. Filled with unmistakable charm and complexity, “A Twice Told Tale” conjures up stories that connect with something deep within the listener. Told with emotional intensity and intricacy, these are songs for and about everyone.

The first single from this EP, “Hikâye” tells a long tale, a tale that is “a little naïve, a little rebellious, and a little tender”. Life is fleeting, leaves will fall, colors will fade, and before we know it, it will be time to depart from this beautiful earth. Yet the tale we have lived to tell and the love we have lived for will remain.
