Pigmalião is the result of experiments on merging Latin American regional and roots references with specific sounds from other parts of the world. Pigmalião is the materialization of the reference acquis from the label Frente Bolivarista and remains in constant transformation alongside the label release narrative.

Frente Bolivarista has made a stellar rise over the past year to be one of the labels to watch for the future of Latin America music. The label has dug deep with many compilations, releasing names such as Captain Planet (USA), Thomash (DE), Montoya (CO), El Búho (NL), Akimbo (GB), Carrot Green (BR), Quixosis (EC) and others.
Brazilian musical legacy has always seemed somewhat set apart from the rest of the continent but the label, alongside the growing links between booming São Paulo and Buenos Aires, Quito or Lima shows that the tide is changing. It is indeed the becoming, and going even further than, the musical version of Bolivar’s dream: a global collaboration of new, inter infected, border hopping sounds shaping the future of Latin American music.

Lotte Ahoi is a multi­culturally inspired DJ and collector of music gems. "Dach ahoi" und entschleunigt-organisch nach vorn, so die Devise unseres neuen Podcasts, der uns von der zauberhaften "Lotte Ahoi" aus dem "Urban Cosmonaut Radio" Umfeld beschert wurde. Die Programmkuratorin von "Sloth Disco" sowie "Slow Motor" ist für ihren vielfältigen Sound bekannt, der sich nach eigenen Angaben als "Funkumbiafrorientropical" bezeichnen lässt – ein Zungenbrecher, den man sich erstmal auf selbiger zergehen lassen muss, bevor es ans Ohrenstreicheln geht. "Lotte Ahoi" ist mit diesem Podcast ein beachtenswerter Spagat zwischen elektronischem Downtempo, tropischer Rhythmik und kosmischen Trips gelungen, der beweist, dass musikalische Grenzen nur in unseren Köpfen existieren. Ohxalá is the musical project of a Portuguese duo: Maria & Luís. Maria works as a printing technician in a photo lab and Luís works as a website programmer moreover both devote much of their non-working hours to music and photography. From this dedicated and parallel passion started the will to make it alive somehow and, consequently,it had been growing faster particularly since the recent adventure of the duo in Germany in 2016. Such a journey is the starting point of this plot. On his return to the Portuguese lands, eager for information; an effervescent and inspiring will to investigate and absorb settled in the duo. They are in need of a call to go through other times, other peoples; which have completely overwhelmed them.

Serenades Podcast #45 - Ohxalá

Nostalgic for the good ole Latin-American downtempo? Then this mixtape is just what you need with @lagartijeando delivering an ode to the Andean sound directly to your soul! Despite the international acclaim this great Argentinian producer has received over the last couple of years, he chose to stay in the small village where he was born and raised. His productions, featuring local instruments and motifs, manifest his admirable attachment to his origins and the traditional music of his homeland. His first approach to music, at the age of 14, was accidental because “nobody wanted to play bass guitar in town” so he learned it and started to play with his friends. It is astonishing how this almost random first step awakened his dormant talent for music which turned a boy into a brilliant electronic producer and music professor. The set that Lagartijeando prepared for UCR features many of his latest productions including seven unreleased tracks. Gentle instrumental sounds of flutes and drums, organic samples and a vibrant electronic beat blend beautifully into an enchanting musical journey which we are pleased to offer to our listeners.
