Our friends, Why people dance turned 8 years old in May this year and they have prepared a gift with the hands in glitter and confetti, a special vinyl release hand-cut in the heart of Lithuania.
Nine tracks by talented an fresh producers in total as nine layers in the cake.

The cake base starts with mesmerizing vocals and a lover boy bass line in Schnitthart’s “Die Blume.”Schnitthart offers the first breath of fresh air, the first opening of a window after a year in this global bunker we made.

Anastasia Zems hits all the right buttons with “A Week Before,” a timeless erotica piece. Her seductive broken beats are in lingerie, leaving you with no option to resist. The vixen’s brew is in your bloodstream, and you can hear her laugh.

Tadan’s “Window To Your Soul” is a fine example of a super clean Electro, shared from a spaceship to a spaceship in the future voyages of humankind.

John Patter serves an impeccable oriental-infused dish in “Ealamiun.” Something you’ll hear in Korben Dallas’s taxi one day as he flees from the police of the future.

Who else to inject a bit of venom in all of this but WPD’s Jaroška? Dirty as hell, “Revelations” come with sharp blades, shredding all in their way. It’s a type of dance for smashing glass in the club.

Fakundo + Ed put an entire TV show in one song. Flirting with Country a bit, then turning the wonky way around the corner, “Макаревич” is fun, brave, and unpredictable. Its sounds are precise.

“Your Bird Can Sing,” says Sintaro Fujita, and it better be singing when we arrive at track number seven. This high contrast between spoken word, tension, deadly contemporary beats, and an occasional backspin makes Fujita’s work one of the toughest on the compilation.

SUICIDO brings treats for the cassette dirt lovers. Shout, shout, let it all out in “Er En Ti.” Smoke and ashes. Dungeon funk.

Clinton Van Arnam generously closes the compilation with a choir chanting something that could be a Tibetan prayer over gentle guitars and a Badalamenti-worthy atmosphere.

Duro is honored to present the birth of the “Baba” brotherhood. During the last pandemic year, Rina traveled from Tel Aviv to Portugal, where he met Switchdance. After some trips around the beautiful city of Lisbon, plates and plates of hummus and samosa, a visit to pick up raspberries at a field that used to be a medicinal cannabis farm and lots of hours in Switchdance's studio, 'Baba Music Vol. 1' was alive.

The journey initiates with the Portuguese version of "Give Way", a cut that narrates the moment when you are in a high state of mind and try to describe the process to get back to reality. For this version the duo worked with vocalist Abrão, where a deep and resonant bass, a synthesized voice, electric and acid melodies, and distant pads run through the space. It’s followed by the Hebrew version of "Give Away" where Rina takes control of the vocals. 

"Reak" means "empty" in Hebrew, the cut refers to a state of consciousness where there is nothing in the brain. Playful percussion, acid basslines mixed with digitally distorted synthesizers create the sensation of breaking out reality, an experience blended with algorithms, binary codes and atomized sounds where it is hard to distinguish the realness. A roar to all the Babas around the world to gather on the dance floor. 

To consummate the brotherhood with an embellishment, master Jonathan Kusama came up with two versions of "Give Way". The first one is a futuristic and dystopian dub masterpiece, with distorted bass lines, shady vocals and liquid percussion. For the second version Kusama brings up the energy and keeps the bass flickering and harsh, mixed with mind-bending and unhinged synthesizers.

Novo Line – aka Berlin's algorave maestro Nat Fowler – delivers a noisy, ultramarine voyage into the depths of his archaic hardware. Clawing at the periphery between leftfield electronics and avant-garde pop, Zeit is an entirely new sonic universe, eerily familiar yet utterly uncharted. A visionary synthesist, Fowler is renowned for his productions that make use of mainly '80s equipment including vintage digital synths, discarded MIDI Hi-Tech, tape delay and even an ancient Atari ST computer. But, despite the aged technology, the result is far from nostalgic.
'Ain't That a Mess' slams in with Monica Kremidi's crooning à la Little Annie Anxiety with reeving car engines and guitar-rock static fed through a pan effect. Multilayered melodies soar on 'Stein', the pounding drums matched by gliding strings, crafting that holy grail of cavernous, booming textures and uplifting euphoria that mark out the most transcendent of rave tracks. The deceptively gentle opening bars of 'Morning Star' are interrupted by a viscously squelching bassline, Cass McCombs' vocals dancing deliciously with the raw beat.
Rejecting contemporary tech-fetishism, Novo Line has a near-supernatural ability to exorcise novel sequences, weaving together a record that speaks to the ghost in the machine.

The luxurious venue was busy with some of the most famous, pretty faces in the ecletic world of art. Red linen curtains hung atop the windows, concealing the darkness outside and blurring the lines between night and day. Candles flickered softly upon each table and guests talked in hushed voices and fancy masks. It was a somewhat strange affair, a distinctly erotic mood but with a poignant hint of sadness. Incense burned with a musky warmth and there was a stale scent which hung in the air. The party was alive with wrong'uns. 

Niv Ast is set to release a new EP on London based label Snap, Crackle & Pop - the longstanding party series has become a firm favourite in the capital. The EP features a remix from Mr TC, a fierce talent who has released previously on the likes of Optimo Music, Neubau and Hard Fist.

Colombia’s Kaputt Club returns with another sterling various artist release featuring a host of talent that showcases the best in dark disco, electronica, electro and much more. 

2020 saw the Bogota based club launch their eponymous imprint with a far reaching compilation, dropping tracks from a host of artists that perfectly represent the Kaputt sound as they further cement their position as a beacon of the Colombian underground. Now they are back with ten new and exclusive cuts which transcends the club and explores the human impact on the planet, and how nature came back to reclaim their land. 

Born in quarantine when nature sounded much louder than usual, VozTerra a local non-profit organization invited people to listen to nature in 'Sounds from your window'. People in Colombia and around the world took the opportunity of the isolation to listen and record ths sounds of nature. The material, together with soundscapes previously recorded in the Van der Hammen Reserve and in the La Conejera Wetland, in Bogotá, were given to DJs from the electronic music scene to create musical pieces which are now part of the ‘Reserva/Voz Terra’ compilation. 

The alliance of Kaputt.wav, VozTerra and the Museum for the United Nations - UN Live, is the compilation of unconventional actions that musicians and people from all over the world took to express their interest in caring for nature with the hope of inspiring people to take action to care for biodiversity and mitigate climate change. 

Things get underway with ‘Suba-Cota 1996’ from local talent Vilamarea, offering up a succinct opener of warm electronica with rich cinematic pads. Berlin based Curses taken up the baton next with the ethereal and hypnotic ‘Until the Fire Stops’ before Colombia’s Julio Victoria picks up the pace with acid tinged ‘Regreso’. Argentinian and Calypso Records boss Thomass Jackson joins forces with the ever impressive Local Suicide duo for the wonderfully chuggy workout that is ‘The Snitch’ and another Berlin resident in the shape of Bogota’s MiaHush then drops the arpeggiated roller, ‘Siempre Viva’ replete with 80’s inspired synth lines. The compilations second half sees chunky electro from Scadta, syncopated rhythms and rich chords from Nuclear Digital Transistor and some Italo inspired brilliance from Bordeaux’s Dombrance. Completing the package we have the deeply delicious ‘Marcha’ from Kabinett and a final closing opus from Kat Yusti in the shape of ‘Bestia’. ‘
