The 'Sail We Must' EP by Irish producer Signa Rust draws inspiration from Alfos, reflecting a mutual appreciation for slower-paced sounds around the 100/110bpm mark. Crafted primarily with analog gear, it's a track that embodies hope and is dedicated to Signa's late father. The saying "fail we may, sail we must," an old fisherman's adage, resonates throughout the work, honoring his lifelong career in the industry. The opening track unfolds with a 303 and a uniquely twisted synth arp, then shifts gears with the introduction of strings, infusing the piece with a sense of hope and serene joy. '13.0 TeV' begins with the characteristic 808 percussion sounds, mingled with dubby samples that create a Rastafarian ambiance, followed closely by the 303's simmering acidity, before escalating with a distorted pad sequence. The EP concludes with Will Flisk's remix of '13.0 TeV'.

And what a debut it is: Four really really strong tracks to let all bells ring indeed. »Backing Track« isn't really aptly named as this track isn't for backing - it is for strictly dancing and spacing out on the floor. No prisoners taken here. The Zillas gear down a bit in »Ether Drift Theory« but of course keep the customers satisfied with a dark and solid number. »Mister Wonderful« features some wonderful breakbeats at the beginning until the bass drum and the acid madness takes over. Last but not least we enter the »Portal To Nowhere« - what a tune! Dark wobbling bass lines, spacey synth sounds, lovely claps - all the right ingredients necessary for a fun time at your local club of trust.

Having previously taken a razor to J.W.B. Hits The Beat's Body On Body track on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX, Curses now turns his attention to the group’s House Fatale. Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elements of Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.

Like the morning sun penetrating a Winter sky, a shimmering frost flecks the brightness of “Message to Nowhere”. The four tracker showcases the sound of Ruben Benabou’s Hyperstellar nom de plume, a sound that draws inspiration from sci-fi soundtracks and the warmer currents of electro. Refracted bleeps introduce the title piece, shorn beats cutting through glowing synthlines as the EP takes flight. Tight terse drum patterns are the launchpad from which melodies sail and swoop in “Words in a Void”, bittersweet strings and warbling pads bending and shifting above juddering basslines. Fellow Frenchman, and all-round electro virtuoso, The Hacker remixes “Message to Nowhere”. Pulling the track toward the centre of the floor, scissoring snares slice through echoing notes and silken shrouds in this machine funk remake. Temperatures rise for the close. Famous for featuring the crème de la crème of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene, the mighty San Francisco-based powerhouse Roam Recordings releases its first EP of the ongoing revolution around the sun: The suitably titled “Dance Therapy”, by rising & shining Colombian artist Nicolás Saavedra a.k.a. Kabinett, treats our ailments with two out-of-the-box originals and three magnificent remixes made with love by none other than Hardway Bros, Zillas On Acid, and Jason Peters, the label honcho himself.

With well-received appearances on Internasjonal, Kaputt.wav, Playground, Sonido Moderna, Boite Music, Discos Platino, and Duro, just to name a few, Nicolás has established himself as one of the most interesting acts of the current South American electronic music soundscape by delivering a colourful output filled with references from many a genre of the past, twisted and adapted to the modern taste of the audiences out there.

Premiered here, Zillas On Acid’s take on “Catching Up With Reality” comes embedded on, guess what, an insurmountable amount of acid, the specialty of the boys. In a time in which a faster-and-faster pace reigns on the dance floor, decreasing the BPM of an original for a remix is a bold move. That’s exactly what Thomas & James did: The 122 to 110 drop turned the theme into a completely different experience and added an extra procedure to the successful therapy.
