A decade into his career, London-based, Doncaster born DJ and producer Mella Dee shows no signs of letting up. Bringing a strong work ethic to his creativity, Mella Dee (or Ryan Aitchison) is nothing but prolific. A steady stream of EPs and singles on labels including Saoirse’s trUst Recordings, Pete Tong’s Three Six Zero and his own Warehouse Music has seen the Yorkshireman move from glitchy techno to euphoric synth laden house to joyous peak-time anthems; all the while becoming a favourite at clubs around the world including Berlin’s Berghain, Barcelona’s Nitsa club, and Amnesia Ibiza and taking his All Night Long parties everywhere from the big room Telegraph Building in Belfast to the intimate Sneaky Petes in Edinburgh. A regular in the record bags of everyone from Saoirse, Midland and The Blessed Madonna, he’s also a DJ and producer who always has at least one foot on the dance floor. “Playing clubs all around the world and making different dance floors move has definitely improved me as a DJ and producer,” he says. “And if I’m not in the booth, I want to be on the dance floor. That’s what drives me. Making music that I want to hear on the dance floor”. @poly-chain very much takes electronic much into the future. The Kyiv artist born Sasha Zakrevska uses IDM, electro, and techno as building blocks to construct her own eerie, intense, and atmospheric sound worlds that are as cinematic as they are physical. Her edgy melodies are inventive, and her machine rhythms are hugely distinctive. She has not only written solo albums but has composed for theatre and museums, collaborated with Nene H, and released charity albums for Ukraine as part of her ongoing musical resistance.  

For this week's podcast, Poly Chain has sent us the recording of the very special live show she played at Dekmantel Festival this summer. It is an absorbing hour of beatless sound that will move you as much as any drum track. There are storytelling chapters to the set that takes you from darkened underworlds to starry cosmic expanses as the moods go from reflective and calming to more intense and unsettling. It is very much the sound of tomorrow, today.

We are deeply excited to share Donato and Marco’s grand finale for the last edition of Terraforma at Villa Arconati. With great humbleness, these two masters and dear friends have carefully broadened and lulled, record after record, an intimate space of trust, exchange and deep-time connection. 
 
Also, we’d like to add a fond memory that was shared with us a few days after:

“Dozzy and Shuttle’s finale unfolded like twilight. A prolonged dusk caressed by an eerie drizzle. Shadows and whispers echoing with the surroundings. Synapses slowly reaching the ground, merging and becoming one with the underground rhizomatic networks. A memorable rendez-Nous within a fractal space. It felt like being at the core center of the matrix, enveloped by a warmth reminiscent of a maternal womb. I found myself in a weightless suspension, envisioning the past, the present and the future, all together in a blink of an eye.”

I haven’t posted a recording of my djing for quite some time now, I feel this is a moment I can and want to share.

This 5 hour closing set has been something special for me.

Walking into de school not knowing what was about to happen, only thinking that I would see this as my musical homage to being a resident to this amazing place, a space where I was going to play one of my most memorable sets to this day. What started as 3 hours planned of a closing ended up in 5 hours of pure bliss. 
The responses on that moment have changed a lot for me. It made me rethink why I dj, why I make music and why I love doing this thing I do so much. 

These 5 hours are filled with: unknown hits to big dance bangers, music for happiness, loneliness, loving, hating, remembering, forgetting, friendship and everything in between.

Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.
