Warped female vocals are the show-stopper here, the rocksteady rhythm section chugs away effortlessly and huge washes add to the tense vibe. In the distance, haunting synths race against time and intertwine with chaotic reverberations. Paride Saraceni opts for a dubbier approach and employs his rubber-band bass and skipping drums. Looking to his effects box for the extra magic, he creates the trademarked cavernous atmosphere that he is known for.</p>

Unless you've been hiding under your Grandmother’s electric blanket for the past few weeks – or sensibly departed for warmer climes - you may have noticed things are still rather grey and chilly outside. Yes, as those gloomy folk on Game Of Thrones predicted, winter did indeed arrive and unfortunately seems unwilling to leave of its own accord.  So, with one eye on the thermometer we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands and warm ourselves up with a hot mix from Russian born Brookylnite, Serge Devant. 

Serving as the heat seeking cousin of the more famous ‘rain dance’, Serge’s sections are the the tonic we’ve been looking for in these meteorologically dreary times and follow on from a number of auspicious studio efforts that have seen him moving souls and soles the world over. 

Plotting the biggest of 2016s – he kickstarted his year with the Always On My Mind EP for Crosstown Rebels – we think you’ll be hard pushed to many artists who will blow up in a bigger way this summer. So if you want to stay one step ahead of the curve and remain you’re friends go to guy or gal when it comes to all things contemporary house, you know what to do.

Despite originally hailing from New York, Serge Devant has recently locked in close ties with one of London's own key music outposts Crosstown Rebels, falling in with the iconic warm and deep house aesthetic Damien Lazarus's iconic imprint when he made his first release this year with his Always On My Mind EP. The release was part of something of a comeback for the producer after being forced to take a year out from music in recovery following a devastating snow boarding accident. This became a time of reflection and development of his sound where he began working under groove informed direction, which also has been snapped up by Lee Foss and Jamie Jones' Emerald City music and Crosstown sub label Rebellion and is clearly already proving to be a positive upturn in his career.

More releases can be expected from Devant on Crosstown later this year, plus he's heading to EC1 for the first time this Saturday night. So, to properly demonstrate this fresh direction and what can be expected from his debut, he's put together this exclusive promo mix...

Heavily influenced by the '90s, the music of Serge Devant recalls a time when artists like the Prodigy, Underworld, and Carl Cox ruled the dancefloor. During the 1990s, the Russian native and Music School of Saint Petersburg graduate was living in New York City, hanging out at the legendary Twilo club, falling in love with music, and deciding that DJing was his future.

Releasing off the acclaimed label Crosstown Rebels, his latest 'Always On My Mind' EP made waves. Alongside his work on Crosstown Rebels, he's released off Emerald City and Rebellion - two labels known for their ripe output of deep tech and house tunes. In terms of performances, you can catch him at El Row Sundays in Spain, featuring Marco Carola and Crazy P, and a variety of other artists.
