The thing with classic Hip Hop is to not tamper with it too much.  This song which came out in 1986 was about as raw as it got and Marley Marl was still kind of new to production which worked to his advantage.  Marley noticed the same thing in my early Bonesbreaks which he featured on his WBLS 107.5 lunch time mix back in 1988.  SO when I approached this remix, I had to keep the authentic street feel to it which happened by accident when I first unboxed my Roland Aira System.  I had 48 hours to do this for my Boiler Room set, so it is really just dirty and raw, yet effective.  Kept it all it tact.
