This track inspired by a Hike with friends of time to the the summit of Rondetslottet in Rondane Nationalpark in Norway. It was October 2022 and we were surprised by snowfall. No losses on the way up and down fortunately. Why post a winter song in the summer? Don't ask me, I am nuts... ;-)

Former biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier has died on 28th July 2025 while climbing in the Karakorum. A rockfall hit her at high altitude at Laila Peak while she was on the road with her rope partner. Rescue operations were greatly complicated by the dangerous situation.

This tune was supposed to be published with another title and with vocals. It was not finished yet, neither was the life of Laura.

Rapture is a new collaboration between the Beating Edge and Joe Stroffolino, following the awesome Asteroids (The Original Was Better). Joe wrote both the lyrics and the original music, while the Beating Edge rearranged and recorded it in a punchy rock style, adding driving guitars, strong rhythm, and dynamic choruses. Vocals feature Tom on lead, with Joe and Mary contributing both backing vocals and lead parts on certain verses and the bridge, creating a layered and energetic vocal texture.
The song explores the absurdity and irony of doomsday prophecies, the obsession with the rapture, and the endless cycle of believers and false prophets. It blends satirical storytelling with a critical eye on human behavior, delivering a mix of humor, intensity, and thought-provoking commentary through energetic rock arrangements. 
Rapture is a track that engages both the mind and the ears, combining narrative, power, and fun in equal measure.

Double Vision

This started with a very beautiful piano piece by Tom, then advanced by Jussi’s great electric guitar lead. I added an imagined lyric about someone not being able to commit to a relationship and the song was completed by Boon’s excellent acoustic guitar work. This is the last renovation of several songs I wrote some years back and recorded with Roger Stankovic (https://soundcloud.com/roger-stankovic), who did the lead vocals. Started as a basic piano and vocals track, but I took it down and added some new elements. Very happy with Roger's amazing work on this! Harmonies, moi, and Jen DB.

Falling Sands

Nu Jazz that’s Chill with Neoclassical touches, some blues notes, and audio of songbirds, all driven by conga rhythms at 75 bpm. Written in the past week, a continuation of similar themes created in the past few months. An original composition, no AI, digital music created MIDI to DAW by a human.

I live in the Northern Hemisphere, where the sunlight wanes into the shortest day and the longest night on winter solstice. In this November song — in follow up to my Equinox song — I express the month’s gradual descent into darkness as daylight recedes to the increase of night.

The good news is that we know how the story ends; the light begins regaining its strength on the day after winter solstice. So there’s hope based on empirical evidence — scientific, objective reality that you can rely upon, thank goodness! 😀

If I could translate the musical narrative into words, the following is what it would say.
