GH012 podcast comes from John Dimas and is fueled by a strong sentimental value - it was recorded at Parker Lewis’s club closing party in January 2020. We can only imagine how their final chapter was both utterly special and emotionally charged, while we are thrilled to share some of the last tunes played on one of the best German dancefloors. 

Well executed and richly varied, GH012 shows Dimas' full range. The mix opens up seductively with Speedlearn produced by Higher Intelligence Agency, while later on Ex-Terrestrial’s Mojave Skyline casts a spell and pins down one of the recording’s peak moments. The ever-shifting rhythmic systems are a knotted marvel surgically mixed, the overall effect being transcendental.  Enjoy this trip towards very rewarding territory.

Club der Visionaere is one of Berlin’s most beloved dancing spots. Hidden along a canal by Treptower Park, it’s widely regarded as the German capital’s HQ for reduced house and techno alongside its neighbouring sister venue Hoppetosse. Whenever we’re in Berlin we usually while away hours drifting between the deck and tiny dancefloor, something that’s made easy by an open end curfew, and the hypnotic tunes that roll out of the club’s speakers. 

Topper shared a trippy set of subdued rollers to represent the sound of Club der Visionaere.

Mike is one of those artists that I don't even know where to start to write about him, it is such an extensive history and one I have so much respect and admiration for. 

Definitely a Dj's Dj, owner of an enviable and unique mixing technique and pretty much an encyclopedia of music, Mike's first time coming to Europe from Canada to play he was as young as 21... as the story goes, he even ends up meeting Florian from Kraftwerk... read on. 

The mix series is very personally dear to me and I like telling stories which connect me to this amazing friends and artists. Sitting at one of the many afterparties with Mike, I asked about the first times coming to Europe and he drops me this story which is amazing! 

Mike  was touring with Jeff Milligan for his second tour in Europe... he was only 21, he was getting picked up at the train station in Dusseldorf with Jeff and the promoter from the Original Ego club (not the one that Solomun would make in Hamburg later) was like "where is Mike??" and he was standing there like.. "I'm Mike".. and she was like really!?   laughing and saying that he was the youngest DJ they ever booked and the youngest person to come in the club! 
Mike was already of course  a little intimidated by the high brow of these Germans, then he was meeting Robert Henke who was in charge of the sound system and then to top things up (as if this wasn't enough to intimidate this kid) - while playing he was introduced to Florian Schnider from Kraftwerk and was, inevitably star struck.. , meanwhile Milligan was laughing at him for how much he was gushing!

Mike has granted the decks at Toi Toi several times, but one of these times it was very dear to me. Him and Lutz for me were (still are) two of my absolute favourites (same generations, the golden 90s, as special as each other in my book) and I had both for my birthday weekend which had a Toi Toi on the Friday, we celebrated Ricardo 10 years at fabric Saturday and on Sunday, we joined forces and got a loft afterparty until Monday! 

So many memories... 

Thank you Mike for all of the above, for being such the great friend you have always been and the badass artist you are, as a dj and producer. Happy Anniversary for the 20 years of Cynosure, this label which gave us so many classics and gems we will keep for life.

NICK BERINGER [Rubisco - Berlin]
It is often said of Nick Beringer that he is a defender of the good old Berlin style. What that means is instead of flashy tricks and effects-­heavy sets, he locks people in with his perfect pacing, timely selections and long mixes. Atmospheric house, dub techno and freakier electro define his always journeying soundtracks. Of course, he will also pull out the classics and jump through styles to suit the mood of a more playful party, or trip you out with weirdness at the afters. Either way, a knowing skill underlines everything he does in the booth. Nick started out in indie bands playing guitar, eventually moving on to making his own beats and sampling from his Nintendo GameBoy, the only electronic sounds he had to hand. A move to Berlin to study lead him on an exploration of the city’s nocturnal soundscapes. A fascination with nineties house and garage informed his first releases, and also lead him to an enduring friendship with Beste Modus. Initially a vinyl-­only DJ inspired by the analogue warmth, human roughness and deep feelings of the likes of Mike Huckaby and Moodymann, Nick eventually evolved his set up and now uses all tools at his disposal to find his perfect sweet spot. Since 2015 he has spent a few days a week in his studio, meditating on music and going wherever the mood takes him. As such he will often find himself making ambient, hip hop or techno without knowing how he got there. “If you’re only trying to chase a certain style that is fashionable right now, tracks will always sound forced,”
he says rightly. “What I’m trying to do is to pick out my favorite pieces from modern styles, but take them back to the old school Detroit and Berlin kinda approach, which is stripped down and club focused house music.” Inspired to turn on his hardware by a wide range of starting points, Nick is able to strip things right down to their bare essentials and still suck in the dancers and make a lasting impression. Evidence of this comes in his diverse discography on labels like Taverna Tracks, Dorian Paic’s Raum Musik, and his own label Rubisco where he can release whatever he likes. Past EPs like Nocturnal, Passage or Slope & Dip showcase his seamless mix of the old and the new and have resulted in truly timeless club tracks. All of this has made Beringer an in demand name by tasteful clubs and crews across Australia, Europe and at hotspots like Watergate and Tresor. His own crew, which also hosts parties in clubs like Griessmuehle and Ipse, is a thriving collective full of creativity and is one of the reasons Nick Beringer is now an essential part of house and techno conversation in Berlin and beyond.

Today, we bring you into Noisy, a small city near Paris, where Guillermo Jamas and Jacan had the chance to spin some records during "Mawifamily x La Relève Covid Online Festival" to support and raise funds for all medical staff in France during the pandemic. The festival featured electronic artists and collectives from France and was supported by the local media. On that occasion, the Automatic Writing bosses, which is the home of artists such as Sweely, Charonne, and Gab Jr, had the chance to spin 3+ hours of nasty house and minimal beats, honoring a good cause.
