Returning to the Serial Killaz label with a bang, Jaydan unleashes a monster collection of tracks for your ear. It’s been a minute since he locked himself back in the lab and already he’s been churning out more of that trademark production than ever before. He also made some big promises leading up to this and with no hesitation, Jaydan delivered.

‘War Clash’ brings forth an intro jacked straight out of 1995, brushed up to date with modern flair and slammed straight into the speakerbox. Rolling drums, abrupt bass and twisted out amen breaks - a true recipe for success and a devastating tool for any well respected DJ.

Influences in abundance in the shape of ‘The Whistler’ and it goes without saying that Jaydan has certainly pulled on some previous memories with this one. Jump up from 2005 mixed with upfront jungle breaks that shouldn’t really work as well as it does.

‘Babylon’ features one hell of an atmospheric introduction that slides right into a full on pattern of steppy breakbeats and aggy basslines. This one brings forth the danger!

Reminiscing on the supply and demand era of everybody's favourite media, ‘Vinyl’ is one serious beast. A sense of frustration conveys from not only the vocal samples but the aggressive, spine tingling bassline that comes shortly after the intro.

Certainly a mixed bag of styles and flavours from Jaydan. No doubt after hearing you this you will also agree that he’s back on top form and ready to rumble. Here’s to more from this talented producer and DJ.

Jaydan - War Clash EP (Minimix)

Lowriderz, fresh out of the jungle war comes another heavy slab of unfiltered breakbeat goodness in the form of the ‘Underwater EP’. Featuring the vocals of Russian Dancehall and Reggae MC, Steppa Style, this is another wicked release from the Serial Killaz offshoot label Street Life which once again shows how dedicated these guys are to authenticity.

Lead vocals from the one like Steppa Style kickstart proceedings straight away featuring one hell of a catchy hook that will have crowds chanting for days. ‘Underwater’ is a direct onslaught on the senses with a ton of mashed up breakbeats, dub effects and a short ranged lead bassline that bangs.

‘Eva Load’ delivers some real lyrically education. A great feel good message, excellent double timing all wrapped up in glossy production that this dynamic duo are well known for.

Reminiscent of ‘94 yet as upfront as you could possibly wish for. Street Life and its artists really are a winning combination for die hard junglists of all ages.

Steppa Style & Lowriderz Feat Veak 'Underwater EP' (Minimix)

AJ Mutated, one half of the popular duo Mutated Forms, sets his sights on the Serial Killaz imprint to launch his ‘Uneasy’ EP. A clear choice of label considering the style of fashion of the content. This is a rare selection of jungle breakbeats, hard as nails sublow bass and some wicked lyrics from the one like MC Busta. Rough to the core!

‘Uneasy’ certainly is just that. From it’s precisely filtered out breakbeat intro that delicately flows into a drop it’s total opposite that sets the pace and tone for the EP immediately. Vicious digital bass notes connect almost effortlessly with rolling undertones and short but snappy snare claps. You’re also treated to an extended breakdown halfway through, just for that extra breather. Right?

Wonky, off pitch keys lead straight into ‘Swerve’. A proper dedication to a messy night if you ever heard one. The brain melting synchronisation will either have you reaching for the lazers or camping next to the corner of the bassbin stack.

‘Petty Boulevard’ knocks on the experimental production door with alien like sub bass that would rip through wooden dance floors like a knife through butter. Old school hardcore heads will no doubt appreciate the cleverly adapted samples in this belter!

A ‘PHD In Junglism’ you say? That’s no doubt reserved for the likes of Serial Killaz themselves no? MC Busta would certainly have something to say about that and this killer track which is totally lyrically led is sure to be one of the biggest hits of the year for any self respecting junglist.

Licking off the EP with nothing short of the brutal ‘Pipe Dreams’. A solid head stomper of a riddim that knocks off any preconceptions anyone might have had about AJ Mutated going soft after all these years.

A certified roughneck EP. No further comment.

The Force steps up to the Serial Killaz label with a monster collective of jump up anthems
strictly aimed at ripping a gaping hole in your bass bins.

Everyone loves a singalong bassline right? If that’s the case then you’re onto a winner here
with both ‘Street Talk’ and the EP titled ‘Videodrome’ containing incredibly infectious pitched
up high jinx. Double timed kicks and snare roll through like a VHS on fast forward which
guarantee a ton of swinging jaws across the dancefloor. Gurning you say?

A Serial Killaz release wouldn’t be official without a nod to jungle and ‘Rastafari’ certainly
delivers. With roots as deep as to be expected, The Force know how to craft a jungle riddim
and with elements of ‘94 combined with 2018, it’s one of those sneaky riddims that will
surprise even the most dedicated of train spotters.

Both ‘Safe Space’ and ‘Monster Club’ take the stance of murky and muddy basslines that
leave an almost hard step like vibe behind their destruction of the speaker stack.

Licking shots with ‘Quaalude’, a final love letter to Clipz and a sure fitting one at that. Ride
the impressive wave of layered up basslines and feel the vibe, which after all, is what this
and every other Serial Killaz release is about. VIBES

PURE FILTH

London certainly doesn’t need any long winded introduction as to its importance in the drum and bass scene and it’s no surprise that Kastro and Scudd chose to use inspiration from our legendary city for their first EP for Serial Killaz.

The title track ‘LDN TING’ reeks of intensity. If you were lucky enough to visit The End, imagine this going off at 2am next to a gang of gas and lighter equipped corner creepers. Its indestructible bassline riffs coincide perfectly with tough breaks, rolling percussion and a sneaky one liner vocal.

‘Ease Out’ takes a familiar and well loved stance, easily fitting into the Serial Killaz back catalogue. It’s flipped out, relaxed vibes of the intro combine perfectly with the rubberband style bass that certainly takes inspiration from vibes of an era gone by.
If there ever was a reason to kick back and skank out then the half step vibes of ‘Something About You’ is probably your one stop shop of 2019 and beyond. Showing their versatility in numbers here, Kastro and Scudd fire out a right old grumpy bastard of a tune with muddy beats, bass and a cheeky little arpeggiated riff.

Kastro and Scudd split into two for ‘Who We Are’ and ‘Forever’ respectfully. The first being a vocal led box of tricks, initial assumptions bring forth a commercial dancefloor track but that’s certainly far from the truth after the breakdown. Scudd takes the end of the EP and what a way to finish. ‘Forever’ jumps on the vibe of recent months with a bouncy house organ riff and skippy breakbeats.

A clever, well respected package that’s a fine tribute to the many genres, styles and flavours of our capital city. No ramping. Newcastle crew representing hard.
