Yes yes people! Stepping in for the first edition of our Serious Sounds Mix series we have Serious Selecta Co-Founder Lee Hasty 🔫

Lee Hasty has been DJ’ing for just shy of 5 years and has not long recently won Hannah Wants’ DJ Search 2022 competition. He has DJ’d in Ibiza as well as many other venues around the country. Lee is also currently the A&R for Habits Records. 

"I haven’t really got a specific sound currently, I play anything that I’m feeling at the time, and the more I produce the more I will start to realise / craft my own unique sound. I love deep dirty kicks and filthy baselines as well as contagious vocals that keep you engaged with the tracks. I am heavily influenced by Garage and Deep House. 

Depending on the time of the set that I am playing my sound can change to fit the requirements, but if it were up to me and I could play freely what I wanted then I would say moody high tempo energetic grooves. I always play tracks with chord stabs and organs & a bassline that makes your face screw up. " 


After starting to DJ in November 2017 Lee has held a weekly residency in his town of Tamworth as well as playing for events in surrounding cities such as Nottingham and Leicester. Lee has played for 02:31 events at Amusement 13 in Birmingham, as well at The Monastery in Digbeth. 

Additionally he has  held a Bi-Weekly residency every Tuesday evening for Locked In Radio which was over at Pirate Studios in Digbeth. This then led to me playing at Ibiza Rocks Bar in San Antonio, Ibiza (June 2019) for Locked In. 

Lee has also had the opportunity to support local talent such as Tom Shorterz, Tommy Vercetti, Pete Graham, Fleur Shore & Billy Rath. Having recently played for Afta Dark supporting Josh Baker, this then led to him getting booked for Lab 11’s Halloween day rave to play on The Terrace.

BRAND NEW MIXTAPE ⏰ 
The DJ mix in my opinion seems to have long been forgotten the once forefront of the music and club scene DJs mixes was the go to format where you would unearth a world of new music and hours of non stop bangers. 

As times and technology change especially with the dominance of social media the humble mixtape has almost become a thing of the past where it’s seems to be all now focused on reels , stories , 15sec drop videos , Tik Tok , playlists , streaming etc which for me takes away the very essence of what it’s all about the MUSIC and just the music. Even live streams turn a audio experience into a visual one and I think there something quite magical about listening to just the music and taking it back to basics .
