hobi is a project by musician/producer Brendan Jones debuted in spring of 2019. With a background in guitar, choir and theatre, performance is not a foreign concept and it is evident when he takes the stage. Focusing mostly on uniquely textured sound design, hobi offers a palette of bouncy and driven halftime within a wide range of bpms, diverse psychedelic sound selection, and often pairs his guitar sampling throughout.

Kitsune was created out of the desire to make music bass with more meaning. Something that would come with a level of emotion not typically experienced

The first official BLC EP comes from our Santa Cruz brother Swomp. He captured our hearts with his Charlesthefirst influenced sound design and production. He is one of the most talented artists we have had the pleasure of working with. Do not sleep on this man. Chameleon is a beautiful display of melodies and atmospheres that make you feel like you are getting lost in an ocean while scuba diving. We cannot say enough good stuff about Swomp.

My original intent was to build a bouncy beat in contrast to the slower, melodic, beats built to specific (typically thoughtful) lyrics that I normally end up with.

Along the way I was challenged to add in a complete beatswitch that changes the mood: Everything but the BPM had to be different, and introduce a very distinctive emotional switch.  

Part I features some very aggressive downright filthy sound selection carried by a reesy synth layered in 3 different octaves, over a bouncy beat topped with a little garnish ... Part II is a pop-style base beat with piano, strings and plucks and some surprises that gives room to play with the emotional spectrum.

It could basically be two seperate releases, and maybe it will be some day - we'll see.
