this is a jammed live-version of “how many fingers?”, taken from my album "second wind phenomenon" that i played on the spectacular “electric eclectic / phantomnoise records & suburban trash industries labelnight” on the 12th of may in 2007. the gig took place in the impressive moritzbastei in leipzig, a wide ancient cellar that was re-discovered in the early 1970ies. imho one of the most spectacular places in germany to perform as an artist. the track was jammed live with a yamaha rs7000. the intro consisted of the hyped and pumped-up noise-hiss of the analogue mixer that ran through a chain of alesis mod/fx (bitrman -> philtre -> smashup) units. the hiss suddenly appeared at the sound-check stage, so i spontanously decided to use it.

Drew Exildiscount is a composer, sound engineer, producer and DJ from Berlin. Whether it is in working alongside video artists or in compiling a techno set, Drew’s work always operates along the same tenets: exploring, challenging and recontextualising the different narratives, disciplines, identities, perspectives and discourses that inform both a work itself as much as our understanding of it. In this, they draw on their formal training as much their biography. Born to Christian cultist parents, they spent their childhood playing music in pedestrian malls of Germany with their family band. Escaping the ideological confines of religion and prescriptive masculinity as a gender non-conforming teenager, Drew first pursued training as an events technician, then studied at Humboldt University of Berlin, majoring in Musicology and Media (Studiengang „Musik und Medien“), and minoring in Cultural Studies. They started out DJing in 2003 and now regularly play at parties across the queer scene of Berlin, such as House of Red Doors, Gegen, Chantals House of Shame and as a longtime resident at SchwuZ. Their work is driven by a belief in idealism rather than ideologies.
