Ramsey's Mood

In the play "El cóndor pasa", Frank is a character born in an indigenous family, but with blonde hair like the foreigners that exploit him and his peers, a detail that deeply troubles him. In some way, he represents the people of my country, all of us descendants of colonizers and colonized. A shared history of suffering, that's what connect us, and yet, we keep finding ways to discriminate, segregate, despise, humiliate, ignore, kill, and hate on each other.

Another low-fi recording from around 2014, although the song itself was written in 2001 as a reaction to the collapse of the World Trade Center. Quite what my lyrics have to do with that terrible day, I'm not too sure now, but I like the track, so here it is.

This track is a remix of a piece that I uploaded in January 2022, which I created using a set of self-imposed limitations. I restricted myself to creating tracks using only one synthesizer, and I only allowed myself to repeat the same loop without expanding it beyond the A section. This was a way for me to find meaning in creating music within a limited workflow and timeframe, as I aimed to upload a new track every day. This experience has allowed me to create music more quickly and efficiently, which I continue to do today using more complex structures consisting of 4-5 sections and utilizing DAW software. Since older tracks tend to get buried on SoundCloud, I came up with the idea of remixing them to create new pieces that I could re-upload. As you can tell, the resulting tracks are much more complex compared to the original versions.  I find it fulfilling to add new interpretations to older works, so I plan on making this a series. I also enlisted the help of my friend Moza for this one. I hope you enjoy it!
