After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. It earned him outstanding reviews at Resident Advisor ("a display of real power and finesse" 4/5), in DJmag ("a calculated masterpiece" 9,5/10), at XLR8R ("sticks out as an alternate route to the heart of machine music's appeal" 8/10), Groove Magazine ("pulsating techno in which every sonic details fits") and more.

Following the first single “On The Edge / Perplexed” & the second single “Dirtro II” (including the stellar ‘New Device Remix’ by Robert Hood), we now present you the last segment of the series with 2 remixes. On the A-side Rødhåd delivers an epic 10 minute interpretation of the first single ‘Perplexed’, while Robert Hood delivers a second, more minimalistic take on “Dirtro II” for the flip.

It's Boys Noize and after his sterling 'Go Hard' EP dropped last year we are now presented with a mammoth set of remixes. Always guaranteed to get the cream of the dance music crop on editing duty, Ridha has enlisted the likes of Aden, Salva, Club Cheval, Bounce and Juyen Sebulba to chop up his well-crafted productions.

Today we premiere the Pilo remix of 'Excuse Me' and the Boys Noize Records regular has nicely raised the tone with sidewinding synths and explosive drops. There's some slick vocal cuts and beautiful builds, making this a remix that no doubt has the full seal of approval from the Noize.

The Scandinavian climate was brisk and fierce. In the northern parts of Sweden there was little sound to be heard as they stared up towards the mountainside. A tiny hut could be seen in the distance, a light flickering from a small fire ablaze outside. This was to be the place, the only musical landmark amidst the outback of the north. Acid would play, acid nord. 

Here is the latest release in celebration of five years of Power Plant Records. The release sees the likes of La Fleur and Acid Mondays contribute but it is the Knutsson/Berg track which we have chosen to feature.

Sebastian Mullaert is well known for his work as one half of the highly respected Swedish duo Minilogue, responsible for killer releases for the likes of Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels and Wagon Repair, alongside breathtaking live shows as a solo outfit as well as their joint live act with Matthew Jonson.

Working from the idilic setting of the mystical Swedish forest, Sebastian Mullaert has has been making serious waves on his solo artist journey, lending his signature hypnotic sound to labels like Mule Musiq, Drumcode, Minus, Kontra-Musik and Ovum. His one of a kind spellbinding live show is illuminating the world’s finest stages such as Panorama Bar - Berlin, Concrete - Paris, Fabric - London, Labyrinth Festival - Japan, Black Market - NYC to name a few and can be witnessed on his recent Boiler Room and XLR8R sessions. 

At nearly 13 tantric minutes long, ‘Windmaker’ bubbles and teases with freestyle keys with an almost Middle Eastern flavour, as Mullaert plays snake charmer to his machines, coaxing out deft melodies, airy cymbals and on point beats and percussion.  It’s a track to completely get lost in, crafted with fine sonics and a gloss that only an artist like Mullaert can achieve with ease.

The enigmatic Ukranian producer, Vakula, is drafted in to give a re-interpretation of ‘Windmaker’; edgy phased stabs puncture the minimal techno beat, bouncing and reverberating off the kick drum to create a glorious wall of dubby sound that compliments the original mix a treat.  Vakula has always impressed with his creative and original music for labels like Firecracker, Dekmantel and his own Leleka imprint, so it’s a privilege to have him remix on Hypercolour.

FRENCH IMPRINT A-TRACTION RECORDS DROPS CHRISTOPHER KAH’S ‘ENFANT TERRIBLE’ EP EARLY SEPTEMBER, FEATURING A REMIX FROM DJ HELL.

France born DJ and producer Christopher Kah has been release his dark and brooding style via the likes of Terence Fixmer’s Planete Rouge, Anthony Rother’s DATAPUNK, DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolo and of course hi very own The RedHotHell Rec. alongside remixes for Dave Clarke and Sante. Here though we see Kah make a welcome return to A-Traction Records following his remix of Eggo on the label earlier this year.

‘Rising Star’ opens the package with an amalgamation of mystical arpeggios, hypnotic voice recordings and weighty drums before ‘The Red Man’ lays focus on swirling dub aesthetics, menacing bass drones and murky vocal shots.

The original mix of ‘Without Space’ kicks off the latter half and employs a dreamy feel with elongated bass drones, bubbling bell chimes and soft chords swells before Kah’s friend and collaborator DJ Hell steps up to close the package with his take on ‘Without Space’. Doing what he does best Hell delivers a raw and dynamic interpretation fuelled by the originals warm hook, while crunchy percussion and snaking synths evolve throughout.

Released on Slater’s iconic ‘Freek Funk’ album on NovaMute - one of the most seminal techno albums of the 90s - ‘Love’ finally gets the remix treatment it deserves more than two decades after its initial release.

Marcel Dettmann provides two takes on Love, his ‘City’ remix features a cacophony of metallic rhythm, ebbing pads and plenty of swing whilst mantra-like vocals operate throughout, followed by the thudding ‘Black Glove’ remix with its murky tones and rattling effects.
