The edit strikes a more serious undertone, while maintaining the sexiness and vocal hook that made the original great. The core element exists of a synth line that reminisces of old school garage, rolling from multiple build-ups and drops that have you on the edge of your seat (or on the tip of your dancing feet).

Now we all know about the extensive talents of a certain Green Velvet but what about the many grooves delivered of the purple variety? Yes, there is another electronic act with a velveteen moniker in duo Chris James and Lee Dearn, better known as Purple Velvet and as two purveyors of deep and sensuous house music since forming in late 2011.

Having gotten to know each other at various late night music sessions, the pair have increasingly honed their own house sound that’s as suited to the dark confines of a club as it is the sunnier vibes of an outdoor terrace. 

Examples to date can be found on the ever on-point Berlin label, Exploited, in the form of their Flashways & Solstice EP's. Both EP's pair fresh and radiant synth work with loose beats and plenty of colourful details. 

The pair also contributed stand-out EP's on Dirt Crew & the highly revered and influential Local Talk. With more material already lined-up for release on Large Music & Manucci's Mistress, Purple Velvet look to push on from what was a breakthrough 2013 to a stellar 2014 and beyond. So with that in mind we nabbed them now to deliver a standout mix for our standout podcast series!

Ou quand Obama donne la réplique à Q-tip, alors qu'on annonce justement l'arrivé de Primo sur les planches...

And here we already are, in the next, the third 12inch round of the Sonar Kollektiv/Daniel Grau remix orgy. This time Ray Mang, Soul Clap, Debonair and Trujillo together with Miguel Molina are in on it.
The Venezuelan six-piece combo Los Amigos Invisibles did re-record „ El León Bailarín” off Grau's album by the same title from 1980 and the UK disco king Ray Mang hand-crafted a bass driven, dubfunky slammer out of it. That's the music the most beautiful girls in town want to wiggle their hips to.
Sitting still will also be no option hearing the extra funked-up remix of “To Night” by US duo Soul Clap together with Bosq. This is, by the way, a brand new track by Daniel Grau (after a 30 years enduring creative sabbatical) and is up to now only available on „The Magic Sound Of Daniel Grau – compiled by Jazzanova & Trujillo” (SK281CD / LP).
The Australian Debonair comes in with his remix for „Atlantis“ (off Grau's 1979 released album „Disco Fantasy“) not less lascivious at all and pyramids the synth chords with added delays in a fashion you start to feel like somebody is pulling the rug out from under your feet. That was probably his initial intention and he succeeds brilliantly.
On the digital release you get another remix of „Delirio En Fa Menor” as a bonus track. On Reworks Vol. 2 (SK 289) there was already an adaption by Berlin based Max Graef and Delfonic. But while their remix could be assigned to the new school of beatmaking, the remix by Trujillo and Miguel Molina belongs explicitly in the crate labelled „Nu Disco“, right before the „Cosmic“ shelf.
This is the sexy sound of Venezuela today!
