Red Axes is a project of Tel-Avivian friends Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik. They have been making music together since a long time. At first, guys were involved in a new wave/post-punk band but about 6 years ago they decided to make electronic music inspired by their old roots. Their home label is well-known “I’m a Cliché” but also have close relations with Jennifer Cardini's  imprint “Correspondant”. New album by Red Axes “Ballad of the Ice” will be released on Cliché in the end of April.

Matthias Vogt is a German musician, DJ, and producer whose work seamlessly bridges jazz sophistication with electronic innovation. Born in Rüsselsheim in 1970, Vogt trained as a jazz pianist before venturing into club culture, eventually co-founding the deep house duo Motorcitysoul and the jazz collective [re:jazz]. Over three decades, he has become a versatile force-releasing music that spans deep house, ambient, IDM, and broken beat, always infused with his improvisational touch and love for organic sound.

His solo career has flourished with standout projects like Polytonality (Polytone), the politically charged Pianissimo (Infracom!), and Ten As One (Reflections/Anjunadeep), featuring collaborators such as Hans Berg, Johanna Klein, and Sato. In 2025, his Lost EP on Moodmusic showcased both soulful vocal work with Fola Dada and nods to his Frankfurt club roots.

A regular at iconic venues from Cocoon Club to Tresor and Blue Note Tokyo, Vogt has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. Whether performing live with a band or behind the decks, his sets and productions carry an unmistakable warmth-rooted in musicality, informed by jazz discipline, and driven by a curiosity that refuses to be confined by genre.

Vogt’s enduring appeal lies in his ability to create music that feels timeless yet current, sophisticated yet dance-floor ready-a rare balance that continues to inspire listeners worldwide.

Another month, another shot at unleashing some excellent tunes that are dying for a rinse on the Openlab airwaves. Daniel "Blackbelt" Anderson has been a noted figure in the Norwegian dance community since the early 90's. A producer/composer of note, he released his early production efforts on Restructured recordings and Prin Thomas' first label Tamburin. As the decade progressed he began dj'ing more in Norway and building his skills, subsequently releasing music on Full Pupp (2 lps!), Claremont 56, and Trailerpark. He has numerous remixes on labels like Diskomo, Solar Disco, Zimmer and Grand Blanc records. A cool cat who has been spending time working on new material, we are happy that he dropped this mix for us.
