Outplay’s third vinyl release will be from young Mancunian artist Loz Goddard. With releases on Large Music and Editorial he has been making a great impression with his combination of disco and beatdown house. A well balanced blend between samples and synth work makes this a varied EP and a great showcase for Loz’s sound. Outplay’s own Fouk takes care of the remix, turning the lush “It Will Come To Me” into a solid dance floor track with added bass line groove.

I thought I'd set a challenge for myself while learning the Intellijel Atlantix by making a track with 100% sounds created with the module. From percussion, bass, pads, and chords, to textural effects, everything was created with the Atlantix and recorded into Ableton where I layered sounds and built out an arrangement. 

Added some slight compression and reverb/delay to certain tracks using Valhalla Delay, VintageVerb, and FutureVerb.

I'll take another pass at this track to sub out some sounds — particularly the chords, as I don't like how they sit in the mix, and sequencing and recording each note of the chord individually and layering in Ableton was a faff.

Overall, enjoyed the experiment and learnt a lot about what the Atlantix is capable of! Constraints breed creativity.

This EP goes with a collaboration between S3A and Byron on the track “Nights in Tokyo”. The Prodigal Son returns to the label from whence his debut record was released. Live Ones have known Lorca for some 6 years, and seen/heard his sound evolve since their last encounter, back in the heady days of 2010. A lot has changed since, but it seems Lorca’s knack for a melodic hook is impervious to erosion from the sands of times- The tunefully delicate “All My Love” is a testament to the fact.

As the EP title would suggest, this Premiere is one of four odes to the late great prince of soul, Eddie Kendricks. Textures of some of Eddie’s hottest hits are woven throughout every cut, each brushed with a different stroke of Lorca’s artistry. Like one of The Temptations, “All My Love” fits like a glove into one of their infamous purple suits, dripping with pizzazz and swag - finger snapping and swaying for a full four minutes of soulful joy.
