UNFOLD XLI | Twelve Seven

My next guest on Yax Invites is Alberto Tolo, an Italian DJ and Producer from Padua.

Born in 1990, Alberto started making and playing his own music in the early 2000s and in 2006 he released his first EP and never stopped. In early 2010, Alberto released his first major EP on a very big label called SCI+ TEC which was followed by a second one a few years later.

After his experience on minimal techno, he decided to move into a more raw sound with the first release on Kaiserdisco's label KD RAW. This release changed his vision of music forever and kicked off his personal journey on hardgroove, inspired by tracks of which he listened to in his youth during the early 2000's releasing tracks on underground techno collectives such as Different Sounds, Reflekt and in his own signature ALT, and finally on the mighty BCCO.

Alberto never left the art of DJing and he continued to carry on both sides so it is a pleasure to have him on the series.

Full recording of my fully improvised performance at Lehmann Club Stuttgart. Gotta admit, I struggled quite a bit to balance effects like reverb and delay in the mix. You can also really hear how tricky it can be to keep the energy up with certain elements in a club setting. That being said, the recording is still usable, and I think it’s pretty listenable overall!

Elata x Set Vault Radio is the monthly 2h residency of Elata at the new radio of one the best community space in London. Each month residency will feature an Elata resident with a London based guest to highlight the talents in our local scene. Expect the same energy and vibe as any Elata party.

Essentia: Second half of Duplicity, Essentia brings his sound to the public in 2019, playing across well known  local venues. With a direct passion to the mental and muscular soundscapes of techno: demonstrated across sets and productions alike, Essentia has embedded a meticulous mark on the well-respected imprint ARTS and now, SOMA.Detailed ears will hear the direct influences on his records which translate harmoniously with his dynamic production style of heady atmospheres, to direct, percussive cuts for effective club workouts.

Gizzi: A well-known face and sound of Elata, Gizzi is a London-based techno DJ celebrated for her infectious and relentless groove. With over 25 years of experience in the London underground club scene, she co-promoted the underground party Odyssey in the late 90s, renowned for its energetic hard house. This influence is evident in her music today and in her unique mixing style, which is both hypnotic and catchy, creating an unmistakable signature sound.
