INTERVIEW

1. Where do you get your inspiration from?
"I draw much of my inspiration from parties I play at. Suddenly I'll hear something that I really connect with. I don't care how old music is, either it affects me or not. There is so much good music out there. Some of it is old now, and people tend to forget a lot of that old music. Nowadays DJs play published tracks for only 2-3 weeks. In my opinion, this is really sad."

2. In which ways could the scene improve in the future?
"To improve our scene I would love to see DJs be brave again and not all being the same. I would love to see DJs thinking outside the box ot better yet, outside Beatport Top 50."

3. What makes you laugh?
"Sometimes you will see me laugh during a set. If you do, don't worry, I am just laughing about myself. It’s quite funny and it happens sometimes during my sets when I'm deeply focused. Being focused like that tends to take me into my own little realm, my favorite tunnel of a sort, in a different dimension."

4. Most profound insight you had since you started this career?
"There are 3 simple ways to achieve direct response on the dancefloor: Volume, tempo and pressure. I'm not the "simple way“ kind of guy 😁"

5. You in 11 years?
"I expect myself to spend a lot of time in the studio, but I really also hope I can keep on being able to play some cool gigs and festivals. I'm already to to old to die young."

Impressed by the diversity of sounds, he started to play DJ-sets and produced his first own tracks in 2013. After exploring various styles under different pseudonyms, gradually his taste in music got shaped and led to his alias “Aio”, which was born in early 2016. His music is characterised by variable soundscapes with an eye for detail. Strong kick-bass-grooves meet melodic sketches which will move your body and let the mind flow.
