Be For:

There are two definitions to this EP, the first being literally being “for our time”. In the current era of musicians, like myself from London, people tend crave and look to the states for answers and are quick to criticise the music from our own home. Some may disagree – but I speak from experience. This EP is the project that demonstrates there is hope where we’re from and where I’ve come from and we should unite in that. We all have a story to tell. This project is about Truth, Love and Passion.

Before:

The second meaning of this project is its nostalgic presence. This being a story telling project, it is filled with reflecting on situations and life experiences. The whole theme sonically is driven by reminiscence; I wanted to bring the same feeling or something close to the feeling, you felt when Hip Hop was at its peak of greatness and what is said actually meant something. I was born in 1993, and with this project I wanted to give people that same feeling of when music and Hip Hop was appreciated and respected by the masses in the 90's, and bring that feeling back to my home city and the world.

Setoria – Singer/Songwriter fell in love with the way music made her feel at the tender age of 6. Born in Florida, Setoria began singing in church and school choirs and also explored the art of theater as she participated in many musical plays. 

Raised in the Washington DC area, Setoria continues to make her mark by regularly performing with various bands executing energetic and soulful tunes. Her first single, “Shorty” released in May of 2014, hit the ground running with international recognition and is also on the soundtrack of the award-winning independent film, Love Him or Leave Him. The movie was awarded Best Original Score at the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards in May 2016. 

The sexy single “Spell On Me” shows diversity in tone and explores airy and soft melodies with a jazzy-soul twist. The song was released in February 2016 and is also featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie - MUDA: When Time Is All That matters - An international independent feature film from Writer / Director, Prinze Whyee. She was also nominated at the 2016 Africa NAFCA (Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards) or "African Oscars" for her contribution to the MUDA movie score.

Her latest single “Say My Name” debuted in December 2016  and exploded as Setoria take her listeners on a passionate journey of melodic sounds with an added spice of Hip-Hop to remind us of her "around-the-way girl" personality. Her debut EP - Say my Name is scheduled for release in 2018.

The well-rounded vocalist, songwriter and indi-activist cites Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Mahalia Jackson, Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, Prince, Curtis Mayfield, Millie Jackson, Miles Davis, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Jovi, Rick James, Stevie Wonder and Chuck Brown as some of her biggest influences and inspirations.
